That's fair enough I guess... though you probably got worse off for having a 'happy ending' every four eps! =P
Oh god yes.
It wreaked havoc on my poor delicate little soul.

Did you by chance cry during the last 3-4 episodes of ToraDora!!? Because I did. <3
Of course I did!
Whoever doesn't cry during the last episodes of Toradora doesn't have a soul IMO.

For what "completely different reasons" did it affect you?
I suppose it's more EoE that affected me.
And it wasn't really the content it's mostly right at the end when Komm Susser Todd plays over thrid impact. Other parts are like when Asuka tries to kill herself. The alt universe where Shinji kills Asuka. And the very end on the beach where Shinji is slumped over Asuka, crying because she caressed his face just like his mother did
Oh no worries, that's a normal thing for an Eva fan to be affected by. The entire film and series is a crazy emotional thrill ride.

Isn't...

Asuka trying to a kill herself, something that happened in episode 23 or 24? I don't remember that happening in the movie.

Fight Club made me stronger emotionally. It also helped me not give a fuck about the little things. In Tyler we trust.
YES... watching that final scene in the movie as the building collapse around them and all they can do is sit in the shadows and hold hands hoping for the best. I wanted to stand up and applause it was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good in every way the music the cinematography the colours the acting just brilliant,

Berserk, The Eclipse Ceremony.

This was like Bambi's mom's death for adults times a hundred.

And the thing is, you knew it was coming long beforehand. But when the time finally arrives it still hits you like a a slab of cement.

Nothing in fiction has ever affected me as much is this moment.
Did you read it in the manga or watch it in the anime?
The manga, I never saw the anime. Except for like the first episode, which didn't leave the best impression on me.

The new anime is even worse though.
The manga's the shit. Shame about the creator's health.
I read somewhere that the stress is getting to him and his heart. Not uncommon in the manga industry, I guess. Still, I hope the guy doesn't fucking kill himself, I'd rather he just discontinue Berserk and get some rest.

I think I heard that the director of Ghibli's Whisper of the Heart actually died of an aneurysm brought on by work related stress.

That's a worker bee society for ya.

The Amazing Maurice by Terry Pratchett, because it had a lot of stuff in that I'd not read as a kid before and I thought it was awesomely dark and probably started my obsession with macabre stuff.

Watchmen. Innit.

Journey, how could I not mention that.

Bioshock 2 (not one, no, I played 2 first) because of the bond between Delta & Eleanor.

The Road by C. Macarthy was also a big one, because it made me appreciate life.

Evangelion has effected me greaty but I dont think i would have liked it as much if i were not already in the same line of thought and perspective for life.
I think maybe Roald Dahl was one of those books that really effected my imagination as a child.

Ignoring the ending, ME3 was an emotional rollercoaster.

So many man tears were shed.

Seashells man, seashells.

Journey was another one, but for completely different reasons. Fucking beautiful game.
I'd have to agree with this completely. Yes, I moan, yes I want Shepard to survive, yes some of the endings feel very wrong, but boy I'm in luv with Mass Effect...

To be honest whilst the 2cnd Bioshock get abit of a bad rep, i personally enjoyed it a lot simply because of the relationship between Delta, Eleanor and Sofia and the characters and events surrounding them.

Spec Ops: The Line really hit me, I know soldiers that have PTSD and I have to say the game handled it pretty well. The ending of Metro 2033 the novel made me tear up a bit.

Phillip Pullman's His Dark Materials series (The Golden Compass [The Northern Lights if you're European] The Subtle Knife, The Amber Spyglass) the movie was terrible because they deviated from the book SO much, but the books are amazing and completely changed my life.

word of warning. they RIP on Christianity HARD. if you're Christian, it could very well destroy your faith, or make you hate the books.

Why has no one noted Elfen Lied yet? I read the managa and saw the anime and I shed a few manly tears at the end of each.

The end of Death Note also made me quite sad. And don't get me started on Of Mice and Men.

I was personally surprised by the Hunger Games trilogy, particularly by the final one; Mockingjay. The ending was so unexpected by made so much sense. I also feel an odd increase in how protective I am over my close friends. I don't want to spoil any thing though.

"To Kill a Mockingbird" was what inspired me to be a lawyer, and gave me many of my beliefs regarding law and righteousness.

So since I?ve just read the last issue of Gillens run on Journey into Mystery (which is great and you should read it even if you don?t like superhero comics. Just so long as you don't mind tragedies because damn is it depressing underneath all the humour) and it?s the first work of fiction too actually really upset me to the point where I feel like crawling into a ball and crying in years I figured I ask the escapist...

What?s the last time a story has got you really emotionally invested or provoked a strong emotional response from you? Anything really, happy, sad, angry (although I would rather this did not turn into a ME3 hate thread).
Hmmm, can't say I can remember a "last time" I read a lot. Perhaps the last Dresden Book (where he was a ghost). I haven't gotten a lot of emotional connection from things I've been reading recently, but then again I've been on mostly a horror kick.

For comics, I haven't been reading as many of them as I used to, but when I think of things I reacted strongly to it would probably wind up being Warren Ellis' writing for "Wildstorm" comics before they pretty much destroyed my favorite comics world. "Planetary" and his run on "The Authority" are so far to me the best comics out there even after many years.

The anime version of Elfen Lied and Toy Story 3 both brought me closer to tears than anything I've seen or read, including the Futurama episodes 'Jurassic Bark' and 'Luck of the Fryish', in the last ten years or so.
And, while I didn't know exactly what I felt, I felt pretty emotional after the first time I watched Platoon.

Chuck and Avatar: The Last Airbender. Those shows that get you so attached and invested in the characters. Not too many shows can do it really well. Scrubs is another good one.
