Okay I'm calmed down now (but still bitter about that thing with the bears given just last night one was sniffing around my window) so lets talk about fight scenes. Now what do I mean by the thread title? Well in terms of physical impact I'll use Ultraman Powered from the US. Now I want you to watch these two videos with the Ultraman kaiju Red King and tell me which seems meatier.
Yes the Red King suits in the second video look better but christ only when standing still. As soon as the actors try to move it's like the Frankenstien's monster is in the suit. It gets better though, apparently the monster suits in the early episodes of Powered were not built to take a whole lot of abuse meaning most of the time the stuntman in the Ultraman costume could not throw a punch against the other guy or he would damage the suit.
Moving on to a lack of emotional impact, The Raid films have great physical impact but in Berandal I lose the immediate reason why they were happening leading me to losing emotional investment outside of excitement. What about you guys?
