I realize this is old news, but I just found out about this (also nobody else has mentioned it around here);

It's not all bad news. Most of the more popular files can still be found at the parent GameFront site; you just have to dig a bit more to find them. However, various obscure files that didn't have many downloads are now irretrievably gone.
I suppose it was inevitable given the semi-broken state the network was in during the past few years. Still, I can't help but feel sad at its closure. FileFront is what prompted me to start trying out mods in the first place. I used to visit the Jedi Academy site all the time back in the day. The network remained a useful resource and archive even in its "life support" stage. I realize that alternatives like ModDb have stepped up and surpassed it in quality, but it still pains me to know that a part of modding history has been lost.
