So, does anyone know any bands famous for this, or the odd filk song put out by a normal group?

Personally, Blind Guardian and the accompanying band are my favorites.

The article only increased my confusion. The word doesn't seem to mean anything at all, except "music by people who are interested in stuff", which could apply to just about anything really.

Leslie Fish is my wife's favorite (I find her voice grating; not my wife, Leslie).

Filk is basically a style of music (usually folk-inspired) centered around sci-fi or geeky topics. Normally done acoustic, but there are some that seem somewhat professionally done.
