Are you looking for a recommendation? Alright, in that case, what do you like about films? You say war, so do you mean Saving Private Ryan or The Pianist

I'll happily watch anything apart from romance(unless it's a very good story)and has uckin' zac effron in it

I like a film with at least a decent story,not just a KILL DEM ASS for a few hours.Unless i'm in the mood and no crowbared in romance sub-plot

I was more trying to work out if you loved the script, cinematography, editing?

Lighting-wise, go watch movies like Dark City, The Road to Peridation or The Fall. These movies are next to perfect in these fields and amazing to watch.
Editing? Off the top of my head I can say check out Run Lola Run. The film is basically held up on its editing. Ditto with 500 Days of Summer. Don't worry, it's not a love story, it's a story about love.
Have you watched Moon yet? Great story and next to no violence. It's script left me awestruck. So much creativity went into it and was aptly paced with plots. I craved every minute of it.

Also, what's wrong with romance? You seem to have a fair stance against it. The Notebook is well written and directed film, enjoyable to the end.

I'm just going to list off some of my favourite movies.

War:
Lawrence of Arabia
Apocalypse Now
Platoon
Saving Private Ryan
All Quiet on the Western Front

Watches these 5. They aren't what I would call violence heavy but for the wars/situations that the represent they are superb. I'm not even sure if Lawrence of Arabia can be counted as a war movie. It's set in a war but... well it's great so watch it anyway.

Thriller:
2001: A Space Odyssey
Silence of the Lambs
The Shining
A Clockwork Orange (what, I found it kind of scary okay!)
Phantom of the Opera

Kubrick gets quite a mention here, but I do love his movies. I've never actually seen Full Metal Jacket but I suppose you could include that on the war list, I don't know if it's good but I would imagine that it is.

Honestly though, there are a lot of great movies out there that you will probably like. There is also likely bad movies that you will like. When picking movies you have to take the plunge, just jump in and pick something. Talking to friends about movies can help direct you but you have to choose for yourself in the end.

I have nothing against romance itself,i'm in a commited relationship.It's just romance films are so predictable

Which is why you must, MUST, watch 500 Days of Summer. It's very enjoyable and has an entire new spin on the genre.

how about Robot vs the mummy?
It is real,it is in my house,it sounds idiotic.

There is also a movie where the cusre of a mummy causes a toilet to eat people.
