I liked Doom a lot. Like the OP said, not the best movie, but still enjoyable. X-men 3, in my opinon was pretty good. Chronicles of Riddick was pretty good too

It was the most misinformed direction a vampire film could take. [small]Save for Twilight[/small]
Im seriously begining to doubt your dedication to sparkle motion vampires.....

Which brings me to Donnie Darko.

Most everyone I know hates that movie

Not sure about actual critics, but LOTS of people hated Transformers.

I loved it. Yeah, there may have been a lot of useless exposition, but it was the first movie, all of the first movies of series take half a movie to get good, and once it got good, it was really good.

This is all started after watchin Burn After Reading. The back of the box says something like "laugh out loud hillarious" and yet I thought it was witty but far from this.
...what is wrong with you? The Coen Brothers are Gods D= Go watch the Big Lebowski, get some decentness in you

And I actually liked the Silent Hill film. Sue me D=

Didnt say I didnt like it but it was hardly the funniest film of all time lol
Silent Hill was rather good. Hell I'm agreeing with more or less everyone on here. Donnie Darko was rubbish and Transformers still remains one of my favourite films of all time. Although I really didn't like Mr Bean's holiday...

I never read any reviews but I went to see "Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith" with all my friends and they all came out saying that it was ones of the best movies ever. It made me doubt whether I was right or wrong with my reaction, "What the f**k was that?"
Revenge of the Sith was better than the episode that followed it.

Well, apparently most movies by John Carpenter didn't get very good reviews.
But I'm a big fan nonetheless.
In the Mouth Of Madness, Village Of The Damned, The Thing, Big Trouble In Little China and many more...
The man's a genius.

Comedies are rarely ever voted highly, because comedy itself is objective opinion, alot of people might not find it funny but you do, and vise versa

Star Wars.
Any film with Jason Statham, because the man is walking badass.
Yeah the fight sequence in Transporter 2 with the fire hose was better than sex with Angelia Jolie, prove me wrong.

Oh and "Death Race" with Jason Statham was one of the best movies I've seen this year, pure fun.
I had no clue critics hated that, but I thought it was fantasmagorical.

My film-I-like-but-critics-hate is Southland Tales. A hard to understand action-adventure-comedy-apocalypse film (Probably) with some of the best damn one-liners ever. And I quote -

"It says transaction denied, dog! What're we gonna do?"
"We're going to take the ATM machine with us to Mexico."

Do I have to? I'd rather not compete with Brad Pitt.

People condemned Watchmen, I loved it... admittedly I haven't read the comic so I can't say much in the movie's defence.
I also liked The Boat That Rocked and I personally think the stupid complaints made for this movie were empty.

As for movies people like that I don't, easily the fast and the furious as I am bored with cars. I also hate mainstream comedy.

Both of us Mercs loved Transformers and can't wait for the 24th for the sequel to come out here in the UK, but then again we were both hooked on the original cartoon series from the 80's, Merc 1 likes Beast Wars and we're now both into the latest incarnation, Transformers: Animated, even though we are both in our mid-20s.

Merc 2 here: me and a friend of mine went to see Don't Mess With The Zohan and nearly walked out as we thought it was that boring. On the up side, I really enjoyed Kevin Smith's Jersey Girl and Zac and Miri Make A Prono.

I think critics these days don't really understand the younger moive goers with their take on what their social circle thinks is a top movie. There are all these different genres for movies, but people don't have to stick to them, of example, I took Merc 1 to Hairspray (a chick flick) and he enjoyed it, for some reason I find some types of 'Horror' movies to be quite comical and I'm not talking about the 'Evil Dead' Trilogy.

What I really hate about so called 'critics' is when they comment about a remake being better than the original, personally the only one I have found so far that equals it's original is 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre'.

So I say; it doesn't matter what other people say about a movie, grab a friend, grab some snacks and make up your own mind.

I liked Jumper. It wasn't a transformative experience, but it was fairly good. I'm perplexed as to why it wasn't more successful (unless it was Samuel Jackson's bright white hair, that was terrible).

Films that i like that critics don't;

Star wars prequels (sue me i was the right age when they started).

Ace Ventura :D

Also Lesbian Vampire Killers seemed to be liked by quite a few people, i personally thought it was one of the worst films of the year so far.

I really liked the first Starship Troopers movie even if it had fuck all to do with the book. But I was not a fan of No Country For Old Men. It was not a bad movie but it was to full of itself with philisophical dialouges and bad 1920's haircuts.
