What does your school usually do for its final assembly of the year?

My school has a musical assembly. Each club gets to peform one song related to the what the club represents, and can perform with the support of our HUGE band (or not). This year a few stood out among the Lady Gaga and Cold Play (I can't get Viva La Vida out of my head). Here are a couple:
[HEADING=3]Anime Club[/HEADING]The theme to Cowboy Bebop (with band support)

[HEADING=3]Video Game Club[/HEADING]"A Love Passed On" from Valkyria Chronicles (with band support) *I was one of the violinists*

The girl even sounded exactly like Rosie

[HEADING=3]Dance Club[/HEADING]
I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor (audio speakers)

The audience was asked to join in. I did, even though I have a cast on my leg.

[HEADING=3]Movie Club[/HEADING]
The theme to Shaft (audio speakers) *Can you dig it?*

Sorry, can't find a good link.

How did the school react to the video game and anime club music?
Most people were wondering what Valkyria chronicles was, but those who did cheered really loud.

As for the Cowboy Bebop theme, we pulled it off splendidly, and most of our fellow students loved it.

I will admit that I cried when I heard Marilyn sing A Love Passed ON (it's one of my favorite video game songs)

I am surprised some students were not mean about it. At my high school if I said I liked anime or videogames I was labeled a geek and loser there for life. I did admit I liked them and that I did not care what they thought.

I wish my school had a Video Game Club. We're having generic end of year speach about following mein Feurers... Err school systems Totalitarian 'Respect our authority,Continue your 'education' (or whatever your country calls your fear-spreading, biased android factory section of the 'government') and join the army for oi...Jesus.
Have to admit the after party is fun.

The Anime Club's performance (more like the band's performance) would have left you dumbstruck.

In a good way or bad way?

Final year of high school, second to last day, a cop, a preacher, and an army recruiter told us of the evils of the world. They basically said join or be destroyed under societies heel.

dude......we had a 70 year old ex-proffessor talk to us about oatmeal cookies......OATMEAL COOKIES.......

im sorry, but untill you sit through 50 minutes of hearing the word OATMEAL COOKIES (;'A')/ you dont know true lameness....
We were yelled at for an hour and told that we would not recieve any congratulations during the ceremony for parking cars in intersections, getting drunk, stealing from the local service station and getting into fights which led to some guy getting his jaw shattered. Good times.

I was in the band that played Wish You Well by Bernard Fanning (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7UgTDQtme0)

It was really funny because my friend who was the drummer managed to sneak his double pedal on so yeah.. Lets just say he improvised a fair bit towards the end. Good fun!

For a second, I had hoped that this thread was about the final assembly of some sort of awesome technological project. Alas... :(

My high school had no such assemblies. I suspect my band director would've shot any club members who attempted to make even more work for her.

Woah, wait! Everyone! Stop the prints! We must close this thread immediately; this thread is racist and has excluded this poor man from the conversation due to cultural-vocabulary conflicts!

On a more serious note, my school days ended with me simply not going. We had a massive 'ball' of some kind, where people met in the school and danced in the school they had been spending most of their hours in every weekday for the past five years. We had to pay £17 to get into our main hall. I'm sorry, but a group of twenty friends for about £10 each could hire their own damn hall for the night. I even suggested that we all hire our own hall, own DJ, and have a better time. Still wouldn't have gone though; the false friendliness of people at the end of year annoys me.

I heard of someone trying to tandem-jump (parachute) to their own 'prom'. Couldn't get the permissions, due to nearby telephone-wires, but how awesome would that be?

We went out with a waterballon fight in beach gear, which ended up with some of the younger people getting suspended for joining in with the fight :p
