Ya, you heard it right people...

There is a rumor going around that SquareEnix might be working on a Final Fantasy 13-2, after purchasing a domain name of said game. Not to be confused with Final Fantasy 13 Versus and Agito, this game will apparently be a sequel to the game..or something...maybe?? (haven't played it myself)

Square is having one of their press conferences on the 18th where they will be talking about some of their upcoming titles and possible new releases, so look forward to more information then.

So, uh.....get hype??...Maybe??

Imagine if it's Heavy Rain meets Final Fantasy? Really detailed cgi characters and everything's a quick time event.

When the announced that XIII would be a sort of compilation of 6 games, I expected at least one of them would be a direct sequel. I don't think XIII-2 would be that great though. In fact, I don't really think any of the Final Fantasy games left themselves open to a sequel. X's ending was kind of ruined by X-2, and this has the potential to do the same to XIII's ending. Now I may be a little biased as I didn't like XIII much, but I thought it had a pretty strong ending. No need to break it.

Can a brother get Final Fantasy Versus XIII soon instead? I liked Final Fantasy XIII, but I want the great Action RPG, depressing story, Sandbox-y goodness that Final Fantasy Versus XIII is supposed to have.

And the ending seemed like a conclusion to me.

Yeah, the numbering system makes very little sense. I actually enjoyed X-2 for the most part. No idea what I'd think of XIII-2, but I'm also much more interested in seeing FFvsXIII get released.

What?
I don't get this numbering system at all.
If it's a direct sequel, it'll be the number of the game followed by a number. If it's a different installment in the same series, it'll just go on to the next number. Admittedly, I did get X-2 and XII mixed up a lot in the beginning.

Agito XIII and Versus XIII take place in the same universe as Final Fantasy XIII, but they are in different times and have little in common with each other.

Well, Final Fantasy X-2 was nothing like X.

...I'm not sure if that precedent is cause for optimism or concern...

Why does it need a sequel? As bad as it is the game ended pretty well compared to most other FF games...

Oh, ok. Thanks for that. XIII was my first in the series (actually, I'm not done with it. I play it off an on) after I saw it for a cheap price and figured it would help in my effort to give the JRPG genre a good chance (this wasn't my first in the genre, just so you know. Earthbound takes that title).

Seems like they could have come up with a better way to name these games, though.

Get ready for a campy adventure with the three lead women. Also bring your guns and nooses.

.........................this... cannot... end... well.

/shudders and cowers in fear.

EDIT: Ok.. after getting over the fear based panic my first real thought is.. Perhaps they are doing it to make the plot become coherent because they were in a rush and the development teams didnt have enough time to put in the riveting story telling and visceral gameplay. Wait.. shouldnt this be free DLC or something?

Square did not make Just Cause. They only published it.

This rumor has been going around for a while, and little hints keep popping up to prove it. I hope it's true. The way XIII ended was horrible. The people are in just as much trouble as they were before, if not more so. I would like to see how things work out, and since it would be on Pulse, no more stupid "corridors". Maybe we can have towns again, real sidequests, people to talk to, and more character development.
I still think XIII was better than XII. At least I can recall the story and characters of XIII without having to look it up.

Heavy Rain is Final Fantasy meets David Cage's fever-dream imagination that he's an artist (aka "Kojima's Disease".)

I'm still ashamed to own FF 13, it's a really boring game. If Square can actually pull their socks up on this one I'd be wiling to give it a go, but I'm not holding my expectations particularly high.
