Final Fantasy 8 on Steam

Hi!
Any Ideas about this release? For myself, I just spotted it on Steam and immediately bought it, for VIII is in my opinion the best Final Fantasy to date... This might have been a bad choice, since I didn't even think about the transfer from PS to PC and is it even upgraded (in resolution) for present day computers.

I absolutely loved the game, when I played the first time on PS1, but now I fear that the memories are gilded and I'm eating a pile of shit.
Please, tell me it's not like that.

I never liked FF8. Stories are only compelling when we care about the characters. I found myself wanting to punch all the characters in the face, but forced myself through several hours because my friends kept telling me how good the game was. Eventually I decided if there was nothing to like now there probably wouldn't be later, and gave up. I've enjoyed other FF games, that one just didn't do anything for me.

Heh, well since you own the game now you can tell us the answer.

Oh, I guess I'm obligated to share my opinion of the game. It has more then it's fair share of flaws, and it would definitely be on the lower end of my favorite FF games list. There is plenty of fun to be had there too, and to this day I still use the name of one of it's boss dragons as a SN. Wish the dragon itself was more memorable, but least it had a cool name

Eh, I kind of want a copy, but money is tight right now... the best thing I can see is the auto booster option added into the game... I had a copy of this on CD back when that was the way to get it, and it sat in my 'to complete someday' games for years. Eventually, I got so tired of it just sitting there that I installed it, found a trainer, and blitzed through the game just for the plot. And, for a Final Fantasy game, the fact that the plot doesn't really get good until after you beat the final boss? Not a selling point.
