I would say try em all. I loved almost all of the final fantasy games (except two as someone already mentioned). This is including XIII and I thought that Final Fantasy XII was a huge step in the right direction in the series but way to many whiners complained about how different the game was and then we got FFXIII, which I believe is worse than XII. ANYWAY, try as many as you can, if you enjoyed 7 you will enjoy XIII because it pretty much is the spiritual sequel to it in a lot of ways. Just change Shinra for Sanctum and Cloud for Lightning. :)

I say, get XIII!
I thought I was the only way who noticed all that.
Also, the L'Cie symbol, and how they change Vs the different stages of the Chosen projects in 13 infused with Jenova cells.
The boss battle at the start of the game fighting that techno scorpion, vs in ff7 when you fight that scorpion boss in front of the reactor.
not to mention that lightning is ex Guardian, Cloud was ex-soldier... hint hint...

So I've never played a final fantasy before. Dunno why but I have never been motivated to buy one, probably because none of my friends have either and there doesn't seem to be much coverage of them in Australia. I did play Kingdom Hearts on the PS2 and loved it, as well as pokemon on my old gameboy colour. Today I was looking through the PSN store and came across the original PS1 final fantasy seven and thought "what the hell?". I picked it up and I am enjoying it immensely so far. So my question is; are all of these games this enjoyable, and if so would 13 be worth aquiring? I don't have much money at the moment and I don't want to waste it on a game that will only last me a few days.
Okay, I will tell you MY opinion. Other people will disagree with me on things, but this is what I say...

Final Fantasy Origins (as in 1 and 2) - Only for some extreme nostalgia. FF1 may've saved Square's bacon, but...well... They're okay, but get Nintendo Hard.

Final Fantasy 3 - Never even played it. Is it even available anywhere in Australia?

Final Fantasy 4 - Decent, but kind of weak in my opinion. For some reason, every four FF games seem lacking. Some parts are troublesome-if-frustating and the final dungeon has random encounters that are all semi-boss-level and irritating. However, this is reasonable to own if you also got it in the same pack as Chrono Trigger, which is awesomesause.

Final Fantasy Anthologies (namely 5 and 6) - Two really good old-school FF games with great plot, good mechanics, and so on. Worth finding either one or both together. (But I recommend the both-together pack.)

Final Fantasy 7 - I think you said you had this. Good.

Final Fantasy 8 - AVOID FF8. Avoid if you do not like a leveling system that basically ensures you are never really stronger than your opponents, if you don't enjoy irritating characters, and if you don't like a cumbersome summon-junctioning system that you have to fiddle around with ALOT...even if you get it just the way you like it. I have quite a long rant on what I don't like about the game, justified in that I indeed played the thing in the hopes that it would do FF7 some credit and IT DID NOT.

Final Fantasy 9 This game is a harkening back to the more medieval-like fantasy these games were founded on, and so it has its sort of classic feel even though it has beautiful graphics and such. Worth getting into, especially because there are lots of funny bits and a cool plot.

Final Fantasy 10 - Good to go in MY opinion. Not everyone thinks the same. It's not perfect, but they were just testing out the idea of voice-acting here so...yeah. It tells a good story - and in fact is very focused on story in an almost meta fashion - has a good system, and is fun as well as being leisurely for turn-based combat.

Final Fantasy 11 - I don't have it, and it's an MMO. It's up to you if you want an FF-MMO.

Final Fantasy 12 - This is based upon the world from Final Fantasy Tactics, I believe. I don't have it and not everybody likes it. Your call.

Final Fantasy 13 - Okay, I DO have this one and I think it's alright. Other people don't. You MIGHT want to go after it, but if you find the other good ones first, maybe you should hit them first.
