I'm new to these forums, but I'm pretty sure this has been done before a million times, I don't care.

Electric de Chocobo, Dancing Mad, You're Not Alone. Some of you might have heard of these, however, others might be more familiar with more popular tracks such as One Winged Angel and Aerith's theme. Regardless, the Final Fantasy series has undoubtedly got an AWESOME soundtrack. Without Nobuo Uematsu I fear many of the Final Fantasy titles would have been pretty bland, the music was one of the major factors which keep me playing a Final Fantasy game until the very end. Let us raise our big imaginary Internet wine glasses to Nobuo, I'll remember Dark Messenger for quite a while, I think.

Yes. He did a very good job on Final Fantasy VI.

Some of you will probably notice I said VI instead of VII. No. That was not a mistake. I disliked FFVII, and almost everything about it. Except the Turks. And Cid.

Though, to be honest, only a few of their heavy metal renditions of FF tunes are particularly noteworthy. The best stuff they've done is actually that F-Zero song.

I like his earlier; work IX was uninspired and X was downright boring. Both games had excellent main themes though (Just Over Those Hills and At Zanarkand).

Well, although he's not working directly for Square-Enix these days, the company he founded still does. Also keep an eye on Mistwalker - the music he did for Blue Dragon was excellent (arguably the best part of the game), and I'm really looking forward to Lost Odyssey.

I actually found their rendition of Matoya's Cave from their second album to be my favorite - it's the only track of theirs that is also in my 'regular music' rotation. It shifts from a folk-like acoustic guitar intro into a rock/metal guitar sequence into a jazz/blues keyboard section and then back to rock/metal - I find it absolutely fascinating.

I have tickets to the Distant Worlds: Music From Final Fantasy [http://www.ticketmaster.com/artist/1168224] symphony in March, which I'm expecting to be fantastic. The tickets include meeting Nobuo, as well as an autographed CD (I assume of the Dear Friends concert), so he can't be that estranged from Square. I originally planned to go to the Dear Friends concert a few years ago before E3, but I just couldn't get the schedule to work.

LOVED each FF game I played.

The soundtrack makes a huge difference to the whole feel of each one. My personal favorite is the "Beatrix and Steiner Battle Theme". Gotta love saving Alexandria along to some sick music. I was always wondering though, I know that a trumpet and a flute play in that theme, but is the guitar an acoustic or a Eukilaly (sorry, I wouldn't have a clue how to spell that).

Perfect story as well, enough to make me finish the game twice :D

Word! I found the VII Rather boring, the story was the shit but that was it, the materia socket system was rather boring, you were kinda overpowerd from the second you get your first ones, battle system was just as the last games, NO the battle systems is one RPG is not the same as in the last one (Im not really gona start discuss that here). I really miss the good old medieval fantasy world, the futureistic world you live in FF7 is rather shallow.
Final Fantasy 9 was the game that saved my FF spirit, it was great fun with a really great Fantasy world, all caracters were haveing thier own personality, unlike ff7 were everyone is an ass kicking emo.

back too topic, ill raise my glass, drink the whine, get some more whine and raise it again, just because i like the music that mutch... and i like whine. Personal favorite soundtrack is the outdoor soundtrack in FFVI.

From the first the the twelfth, the music in Final Fantasy is a step above most other games, and that trend is likely to continue, given the kick-ass music the latest trailer for FFVerusXIII uses.

Too bad that the actual FFXIII has a trailer with techo/rock/orchestral junk that's just not as appalling and sounds like it could be from any other game.

The trouble with Final Fantasy soundtracks, like many Japanese games, is that the music is all one to two minute loops that repeat endlessly over the course of a 50 hour game, with only a limited number of standout memorable pieces, like the FFVI intro/overworld theme, per game.

The Black Mages did a track from F-Zero? Which one? I know the NESkimos did Big Blue, and it was good.

Heh I have Electric de Chocobo, it's a great little tune. I also really liked Red XIII's tribal theme thing. Was probably the music I liked most from that game.

It's called something like Over the Blue or something like that. It's one their second album.

Also, somebody mentioned Matoya's Cave theme. Personally, I find that jazz/blues part to be ABSOLUTELY out of place and context with the song--it's a nice idea, but it throws off the otherwise surprisingly relaxing intro and ending with something that just totally jars my ear. It's a song I tend to dislike more than I like, though I have had odd moods where I can listen to the song happily.
