Final Fantasy Versus XIII Release Date

So... any news on this...?

This game was announced pretty much with the release of Playstation 3, and it doesn't even have a release date yet.

Now I know that Squenix has had a lot to take on lately, with the almost-downfall of Final Fantasy XIII and the holy-shit-it-fell-so-hard-you-can-still-hear-it Final Fantasy XIV, along with many other IPs and stuff (earthquake / tsunami included), but hey, it's been years already. And all we have so far is a gameplay trailer that left a drooling sensation of "oh my God this may actually be awesome".

So, what are your thoughts on this game, and what is the date you figure it's gonna come out? Is it 2011? Mid-2012? Are you hyped?

Now, to keep this simple and as troll-free as possible, please don't talk about XIII or XIII-2 or XIV, there's a lot of threads for that already.

The last interview with Nomura that was about Versus 13 had him state that you shouldn't expect it to pop up this year, but 2012 being the more realistic time frame. Chances are we won't hear jack shit about it till at least Tokyo Game Show. They are taking their time with the game, they really were sincere when they said that they wanted to make something great so they can take as much time as they want.

I really do hope it all pays off though. It would be a damn shame that a game that looks like it has suck promise, be a let down after so many years of development. So far it's looking good, I really like the setting, character design, game play, and everything that's been shown.

I do wish to see more info on characters and story though, but nothing has bothered me about it so far.

I do like how what little we have seen of Noctis' personality, he sounds like a fun and well rounded character. He's got the serious tone about him, being a prince and all; but he's not afraid to cut loose with his powers and be a bad ass. Hell he even states a few times in the voiced trailer "I got fucking super powers dude, bring it!!". He may come off as a bit rash, but I like how he acts like any normal person would with super powers; like a total bad ass and feeling like he can take on whatever the challenge. Funny when you see one of his buddies thinking he's a bit insane lol.

After the horrors that were Final Fantasy 13 and 14 I think everyone just wanted to forget that the FF franchise exists... Even Square Enix.
