4 years? And this is supposed to be ff13 counterpart, is that a joke? ff13 sucks so much. I'm afraid to even look at anything related to it.

If they only did that in four years, they're pretty much completely incompetent.

I bet 50 bucks there's a game under their sleeve.
Considering their have been in-game screens of the main character in various environments, I think they've been working on everything together, and not just the story and characters.

I think I'll do the smart thing, and wait a while before giving this game the time of day. After the big disappointment (story-wise) that was Final Fantasy XIII, I'm not relatively thrilled for this title.

So they were paying a group of writers for 4 years to make the story, the easiest part of a game according to Reliable Source, for 1 game? Not that smart.

I'm pretty sure this game will never be completed. What about the "GAME part of the GAME" as Yahtzee puts it? Can we see or hear anything about that?
their was in Fimitsu (I believe) screenshots and talk of gameplay. apparently from how it sounds, it will be somewhat openworld (atleast when you get around to doing stuff.)

Calumon: Dream on! They've been having hugs!
For four years, Calumon? That's a lot of hugging. A very creepily large number.
Calumon: Hey, they made something that mixed Final Fantasy and Disney together and made it good. It's really not hard to imagine for them. :3
Hugs is where they gets their magics.

Hopefully this means that the story will be more complete than XIII's. The ending in that game bothered me to no end, as did some of the other things about the plot.

Ah well, the story couldn't possibly be worse than what we saw in Final Fantasy XIII!... right?...

4 years? Thats alot of slacking! ;o Ive seen best selling novels written in less time...and then another one released after!!!

No excuse with a writing staff that large though!

Its done now, so, lets hope its worth it...im expecting the greates Tour de Force since Tolkien!
You are aware that it took more than two decades for Tolkien to create Middle-Earth, right?

Anyway, the fact that they took so long to create the story can either be good or bad. It can be good in a sense that the game has a lot of interesting stories that players can explore or it can be bad in a sense that the game has become even more linear then XIII. It remains to be seen.

Well, nice to know it still exists...er, kind of. Seriously, I'm tired of waiting for this game. The waiting wouldn't be as bad if they were at least showing us stuff for the game's release but instead they're trying to be all secret squirrel about it. -_-

Do they realize many people they're pissing off right now? xD

Ugh. This does not sound good. They only finished the story after four effing years? So when's the game gonna come out? And how about KH3?

I hope Versus XIII doesn't end up like the disjointed and confusing experience that is FF XIII. Please.

I will laugh my ass off is there's a character whose costume consists primarily of belts.
You haven't actually SEEN the character designs have you?

EDIT

From the latest Famitsy

Is this a real-time screenshot we?re looking? The image quality is very good.
Yes it?s an image in real-time using the real hardware. We aim to improve the quality you?re seeing now even further. As of now we can?t share more details in full scale right now, so we removed the menus and subscreens where it shows Noctis expression (image projected on the subscreen).

Were the party members also there originally?
Yes, we removed because we haven?t formally announced their weapons and clothes yet.

The exquisiteness and shades are like a photograph taken from real life.
Indeed, we?re using physical calculations to determine the movement of the clouds. By this time it allow us to filter sunlight and others on Versus XIII.

Is the cliff to the wilderness & the Gas Station set in the same location?
Yes in the back of the Store is the cliff to the extended wilderness. You can walk all the way, to everything you see but the mountains.

What?s this giant Enemy on the other screen?
It?s a Military Behemoth and he actually bears a huge sword in his back. As for this pictures, the battle screen were on the screen but we omitted it.

Q: The street of Shinjuku is real.
Yes, it?s our model for this, even the bicycle lanes and crosswalks are decipted. But the sense of distance has been changed a bit since the last time. Right out of the city you encounter the wilderness with electric wires every as it?s this kind of territory for this country.

This region, It is only the Prologue, the early stages, nature is so even there.
Movement around this area is easy because you can use a car. Getting on and off the car can be done anytime, but only not possible to go all the way through it because it leads to a region underwater that has been shown on promotional trailers before.

Monsters appear on the field?
(Laughter)?Yes, there are monsters that appear on the field; Some staff were doing the tests and were surprised by how good looking some are in the evening sun.

Are the battles seamless, what about the world?
It?s basically seamless and we aim to make it even more seamless, but there are loadings between big areas.

Information disclosure, is very restrict as of now.
Development is very advanced along and according to expectations we?re taking steady steps; wait at ease please, information on Versus XIII will come. Moreover, we?re making preparations for a Big announcement.

You can actually see a signboard and things written inside in the screenshot?
The signboard is still temporary even though the inside of the Gas Station is modeled after the Stations in the US in detail. It?s possible to go up there using the stairs.

Do you play in this perspective the whole game?
Yes. The camera basically sits in this position. We decided to priority to the character?s presence and the world; that said we decided to scrap the over the shoulder perspective of the world.

The guy in it pretty much entailed any superpower I could ever want- the ability to teleport up stairs
Why would you teleport upstairs, when running up them gives us the opportunity to hear this: You know you can't resist the stairs.
But anyways, Square's starting to have a track record of taking too damn long with things again. Oh well, as long as it's not as bad as FF XII, I'll be fine.
