Well, when they announce that games aren't hitting sales targets etc, I just assume they aren't going well I guess. I hadn't heard they had stabilized, forgive me. It was a passing comment, I didn't mean it as a big statement.

No problem, sorry for the wall-o-text. I think since they've been reorganizing, they've been trying to cut down on the ludicrous sales projections that they used to have. I remember the huge Tomb Raider debacle in the past, but I also remember that a few months later they said that Tomb Raider was then making them a profit, and apparently the "Definitive Edition" (I hate that they called it that) was making profits from the start. Hopefully this reorganization continues to do good for them. Sadly, I think it's about 7 years too late for Capcom to be saved by a reorganization...

I've got to wonder if Sakaguchi were still with Squeenix, would things have turned out differently for the FF series? Would we have had a good HD remake? Would XIII not have been the 13 hour tutorial handholding session?
Then I think about how we wouldn't have had things like Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey. So I can't be too disappointed. Plus I love to play the PS1 versions of FF games anyway. I don't know how I would handle an HD remake because there's something magical about that period of my life that always seems to come back when I pop those wonderful discs in. Sure there were issues, they weren't perfect... but I still can marathon a session of IV, VI, VII, VIII, or IX and enjoy the time I spend with those wacky anime folks and their funky attire, impossible hair and freaky low polygon counts.
An HD remake would just weird that whole experience.

They're bringing all these FF games to every platform ever made, and I've still never played a single FF game in my life. Not even for a split second. Despite growing up with PS1 and PS2 when these games were all the rage.

Would Sakaguchi have disposed of Toriyama is the question than. Admittedly maybe I'm blinded by displeasure at him ruining Parasite Eve with his time travel nonsense (to the point that if a miracle happens and we get another it'll all have to be retconned), but I'm not the only one and most people blame him for a lot of ills.

So, it's just the crappy PC 'update', that's been done BETTER by modders?

Poor FF7 fans.
I'm starting to feel sorry for their dedication to such an overrated, mediocre, JRPG.
Worst part is that this just means that people buying the PS4 version get a really shitty port of the soundtrack despite digital audio being a thing.

They fixed the sound problems on the PC version several months ago. The launch version had some shitty music files, but after a community outcry they replaced it with much higher quality versions so I'd imagine PS4 owners would get these as well.

Also Square stop bringing up FF7 if you're not going to do the remake. Seriously, this is REALLY getting old.

I can say that the Kingdom Hearts HD ReMix's are wonderfully put together and function excellently. There are a few bugs here and there, but considering that they actually lost the source code for those games and had to rebuild them entirely I say they did an excellent job.
Only wish that they had put in an extra day of work and updated the world images in KH1.5, because they look horribly pixelated, anything but hd.

Did they replace it with the music from the PS1 version, or is it just a higher quality of the crummy MIDI music the PC version had? Because if it's the latter....

God fucking damnit Square. It is like you hate money. Then again you are making Kingdom Hearts 3. STOP SENDING THESE CONFLICTING MESSAGES!
I'm beginning to think that the only reason the Kingdom Hearts series has been handled so well is because Disney is just sitting in the corner of the room polishing a pistol. Every time Square gets distracted Disney just stops polishing and leans forward till they get back to work.

I personally didn't notice it that much, but then again I play PS2 games in all of their 480i glory quite often, and that includes both Final Mix games. They probably could have, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on that one since they had to rebuild that game from scratch after losing the source code. The HD ReMix for 1.5 could've turned out a lot worse because of it, as in Silent Hill HD levels of bad.

I do believe its the original PS1 files. The quality in sound rose DRAMATICALLY after they patched those in.

Just did a bit of digging on the Steam forum, and it was indeed the PS1 versions.

Ah cheers, I may well consider getting a hold of it now, my girlfriend bought it when it came out and I was appauled at how bad the music sounded. I had to dig out a rom of the PS1 game to check I wasn't imagining things >< I really don't understand why the PC version originaly had that MIDI music at all, but with Squares current state, it doesn't really suprise me that it was released like that /now/.

Indeed, even Square aren't stupid enough to risk incurring the wrath of Disneys lawyers.
