Hello my fellow escapists, I figured I'd try something OTHER than a Mass Effect thread today.

bear with me, as I got booted out of the site while trying to post last time for like an hour. T_T

Okay, so I recently got my sticky fingers on Final Fantasy Dissidia and am LOVING it, it's like super smash bros meets Final Fantasy advent children. Anyway, as i was browsing about I realized I could not find ANY Dissidia player community sites. Every Fighting game, from Street Fighters to Soul Calibur, and even SSBB, what gives when it comes to dissidia? Anyway, if anyone knows of one, mind sharing?

Okay, now for the more "discussion-y" part of the thread. In FF Dissidia, who is your favorite character and why?

I personally favor Cecil Harvey from Final fantasy 4. He's just so awesome, and the ability to change between Paladin and Dark Knight midcombo is great. He goes from slow ground-based powerhouse to quick aerial fighter and back in a snap.

Also, if Squeenix ever makes a Dissidia two (oh please do!), what new people would you like to see in it? Someone from one of the unnumbered Final Fantasy Games? Another person from one of the games they already have in it? Someone from a game that has characters from final fantasy? *cough*(kingdom hearts)*cough* Or perhaps someone from a different squeenix franchise? (including back when Square and Enix were seperate) And how would they fight?

I definitely would LOVE to see Ramza Beoulve from Final Fantasy Tactics put in. He could have very fast and decently powerful combos while on the ground, but be slow and clumsy while in the air. His only ranged move could be Throw Stone, xD. And it would knock opponents to the ground if they were in the air, or knock them backwards if they were on the ground. His Ex-Burst could be Ultima.

So, how about you?

Ramza's also really easy to write. All you have to do is replace every other word in a normal sentence with "Beoulve."

As for Dissidia, you will hate the final boss. You just will.
HAH! Yeah. "he's a Beoulve!" "He's of house Beoulve?!" "Ramza, surely you can see this is for the good of House Beoulve!?" "It was fated because you are a Beoulve!" "It Doesn't Matter that I'm a Beoulve!" Beoulve, Beoulve, Beoulve! Still though, that game had an excellent storyline.

As for the final boss, I've heard he's hoooooooooorible. looking forward to it! ^_^ .......T_T

In other news, this is my most successful thread ever. -_-

Haven't played, but upon watching the story mode vids I'd hedge my bets with Kefka so long as he's not completely underpowered (apparently X-Death is the biggest 'Tank').

Well for starters, having Jecht instead of Seymour represent FFX's villains was an odd choice- maybe they had too many spellcasters already. He can have a revamped version of his Overdrive, Requiem, for his EX Burst, possibly incorporating various moves from his other incarnations such as Shatter Claw and Lance of Atrophy.

"Your final, most blissful sleep awaits you..."
"I do this for all of Cosmos!"
"Time for you to awaken from this foolish dream."

On the side of good, Setzer Gabbiani has a unique weapon and personality, even if some folks disliked his Kingdom Hearts incarnation. He would of course have to have some kind of Slot Machine move with random effects and card-based techniques but also a Coin Toss bombarding the foe with millions of Gil coins.

"Ante up! My life's a chip in your pile."
"I'm all in. Your move."
"Cheater? I don't know what you're talking about."

There is actually a good Dissidia community site that I know of, but right now the forums are being moved. here is the link anyways http://dissidiaforums.com/, they have dedicated sections for each character and a tournament section as well. I really good discussion community where you can learn some neat stuff.

As for favorite character? Oh too many but I will list my "Dark Trinity" I guess. Golbez, Jecht, and EX-Death. If Dissidia had tag team/ party battle (please god make it true with DLC or sequel) this party would be an unholy force as you would have all bases covered.

EX-Death: Fighting a skilled EX-Death is like punching a brick wall, he is the ultimate turtle in all of fighting game history; NOT just in Dissidia. He is slower than the second coming of christ but it doesn't matter as a good player will let the enemy come to him. Plus his reverse polarity counteracts his speed issue which is great because it can guard crush AND it can be used to set up dummie guards and canceling maneuvers.. His guard counters are amazing, and omni block can counter a good 90% of all HP attacks and whatnot. He's all mind games and drawing in opponents to strike at the right time; you really have to caution yourself while fighting him or it's a one way trip to the void for you. I love this evil tree and his extreme defensive game.

Jecht: Here's the complete other end of the spectrum; just like EX-Death was the extreme defensive fighter, Jecht is the extreme offensive. Jecht will hurt you...badly, with his combos that string on for long enough to really dent your brave. He's a simplistic fighter, but once you got an opponent caught in your assault they are fucked as he can string his standard HP attacks into his brave attacks. He has them from the getgo unlike other characters that need to master a skill before unlocking the brave-hp combos. His Jecht block in also an awesome defensive ability which on par with EX-Death's omni block. This allows him some leverage in battle being able to guard stun opponents and then countering with a painful combo, and it's even worse in EX mode with his full combo perk that allows him to string a combo WITHOUT EVEN HITTING his opponent.

Golbez: I gotta save the best for last, Golbez is the by far my favorite fighter and is the most balanced overall character in the game. It's just so hard to top a character like him whos offensive and defensive game both garner deadly effects. The fact that his HP attacks can be used to counter and defend is brilliant and non of his attacks come close to "useless"...there is no such thing as a useless attack for Golbez. His speed is average but his ability to cover great distances and his attack range are beneficial. He can attack from awkward angles which allow him to hit even after being guard-stunned, and his chaining capabilities make him one of the best combo characters in the game. While yeilding only average damage that stacks to do multihit attacks, specific perks like sneak attack make his critical hit rate go through the roof. Add to all that his EX perk "Black Fang", which breaks an opponents brave and he's pretty powerful. Every one of his attacks can chain into any other attack making him extremely versatile, and his invincibility frames from jumping can do wonders in terms of defending and playing mind games on the enemy. Nightglow is a great offensive and defensive ability, and the fact that he can chain any of his attacks into Cosmic Ray makes him incredibly dangerous to get caught in his attack.

Seriously this guy is badass and is just an amazingly well balanced out character to use. I could go on and on about how awesome Golbez is but I think I've made my point.

I like various other characters like my Gabranth and Sephiroth, but those 3 are my unholy Dark Trinity of death. I swear to god if Dissidia had team battle/ Tag team, this would be an awesome and well balanced team with a pure defensive guy (EX-Death), pure Offensive (Jecht), and the middle man (Golbez). I can only dream for now though.

Kefka comes off as crappy when you first start using him, but he's pretty good if you know what you are doing. His attacks have random patters and awkward timing which results in a gameplay style that revolves a lot around mind games which are further exacerbated by his EX mode making his attacks even MORE random and awkward. Essentially Kefka is meant to annoy the fuck out of you and his attacks come from weird angles and timing. And yes, EX-Death is the biggest tank, if you look up the definition of a brick wall in the dictionary you will find EX-Deaths picture.

yes. be prepared for massive grinding and the boss battle for you to perish no less than 20-30 times, the guy is a pain in the ass, and when i did dodge his massive hits, it was a good 80% luck...

im not saying im horrid, and im not the bestest person in the game, but i know how to block/counter/combobreak all that stuff, so good luck

*GASP*

peoplez! They came! It's a miracle! (This thread now did better than Beyond Good & Evil did selling! T_T)

Anyway, Kefka is the only character that made me laugh my ass off in a cutscene in that game, he's great. His attacks have a whole bunch of odd timings as was said before, and unless you have alot of experience fighting him he can throw you off. Like launching Blizzara at you, which fires like a single meteor, then stops... then explodes into tiny ones to do even more damage. It's quite annoying to dodge.

As for Jecht, he's on the bad guy side, but he isn't a bad guy. Tidus' story goes over that.

Also, Setzer appears in kingdom hearts!?!? I must now go play those games finally! (don't hate me, i just never got around to playing them, just like Fable 2 and Patapon... gotta get them...)

Heh, I could see him being a good range fighter with unpredictable attacks.

And THANK YOU so much for the site, seraph. I'd looked everywhere and found pretty much nothing which is really odd for any fighting game. I hope it goes live again soon.

Also props for using Cecil's brother, xD, Another person who isn't actually Evil, just got picked for Evil's team.

They need Wakka in that game.

Hitting people with a ball would be fun.
Tidus already does that, actually he has FOUR attacks that do that. 2 brave attacks called wither shot and sphere shot...although I think both suck and don't bother using them. One of his first HP attacks is Jecht shot and he literally kicks a blitz ball, well....3 at your face a super sonic speeds. His ex burst is also him kicks a blitz ball a sonic speeds at your face, and every time I do it I can't help but picture GOAL!! flashing on the screen when he does it XD.

Oh and I forgot to mention that after you clear the inward chaos campaign with him, his blitz ball attacks have the random chance of changing so instead of throwing a blitz ball you throw a moogle ball that lets out a "kupo!!". It's fucking funny killing an enemy with a super sonic moogle.

From what little I've played of the game, I think Squall's probably my favorite character. I don't really have any reason other than really enjoying the look of his attacks.

I still wish they'd put Sabin in there, though. Kind of a minor player, compared to Terra, but I like him.

If they add one person from each game, I'd really like to see Edgar added. He definitely had the "awesomesauce" factor. He could be a character that was decent fighting from any range, from the bioblaster to his ultra drill... to the famous Auto-Crossbow. ^__^

ya know what I'd like to see, Cosmos as a fightable CPU like Chaos was. Fight her in the thrown of order stage and give her her own special EX mode like chaos had. It would be cool if when she "EX moded" she would resemble something similar to that of the godess minerva from crisis core. I don't mind that Chaos isn't playable seeing as that would ruin the games perfect balance, but cosmos should have gotten her own special battle.

If there is any character I'd add to the roster, it would be Lightning and Noctis from the upcoming FF13 games. I kind of wish they were DLC or something, she looks like she would be a coool fighter.

Yeah, I heard that Lightning wasn't added because It was so early in development that they didn't want to lock her into abilities that she might not have in the final cut of the game. That said, if they have a Dissidia 2(pleeeeeease!?) then she will most definitely be in it.

I'm liking the cast of 13 so far, though having a 3 person combat system saddens me... At least four members should be mandatory! Or they could be like Final Fantasy 4 and have 5 person parties and make me explode with joy.
