Am I the only one who is truly excited about this? I loved the first FFXIII, and if this one is like that(maybe a bit less linear, and smarter AI), then this could be great too.

Apparently it's out this year in Japan, which seems to me like a bit of an eerily fast development time, but who knows. Maybe they just had a bunch of extra content they didn't include in FFXIII that they incorporated into the full game.

it could make for a title that certain gamers enjoy more than the original.
I thought FFX-2 was universally regarded as shit. And I'm not just saying that because Yahtzee said it -_- I went to buy in on a whim one day and they guy behind the counter literally said "don't buy this it's bad"
Combat system in X-2 is the best in the series, story was nothing impressive and answered nothing, characters where high schoolers in FF cosplay... but its worth playing through this game just for the amazing combat. It's that good.

Well consider that they are probably going to recycle most of the backgrounds and character models and all the animations from FFXIII like they did with X-2, and they have pretty much cut out about 90% of the actual work required to make the game. Hopefully this will give them more time to do a good story, and have some actual side content which is not just "go kill monster X" 55 times in a row.

Doesn't this seem like they're doing the same thing as bringing back Aerith for an FF7 sequel by resurrecting Lightning?

Needs more Fang....
Agreed.
I read that the plot is about Lightning trying to find a way to save them, so chances are high.
Regardless of whether you're right or not (I REALLY hope you are) You my good sir have made my day. Thank you.

I don't understand. Lightning was never dead.

"At the end of Final Fantasy XIII -Episode i- (an epilogue novella written by Jun Eishima, telling the events directly after the end of Final Fantasy XIII), Lightning, who felt there was still something threatening the newly acquired peace found herself in a mysterious empty dimension somewhere while searching for a way to save Oerba Dia Vanille and Oerba Yun Fang, asking herself where she is trying to go."

What the hell. I thought Square learned something from X-2... To not do a sequel to an existing game. X-2 was nothing but total shit on a DVD and I regret having played through it. XIII was decent, I still enjoyed X the most out of the series, but XIII-2?

I thought milking VII was good enough for the next century, or next 350 Porsches?

Keep Lightning, keep Snow, keep Sazh, and even keep Hope, but please make sure Fang and Vanille don't come back. This isn't Dragon Ball Z, I'd like it if they stayed "dead" so that their sacrifice didn't seem meaningless.
As much as I like Fang, I totally agree.

As long as the game stays true to FFXIII's groundbreaking formula of thirty hours of linear gameplay followed by 15 hours involving more open world design, then i'm in.

For me FFXIII was one of the most bitterly disappointing games I've ever played, so I'm looking forward to this in a "can't get any worse" kinda way. But that's just me

Oh, awesome, a trailer that gives away the ending for the previous game. Guess I don't need to play it anymore.

I really was considering getting the game too.

And of course, this is a JRPG. If you're going to grind, or at least randomly encounter a battle every four steps, you need a good combat system.
X-2 is still my favourote combat system in the series. It was so flexible and quick-paced, I'm sad they didn't stick it it.
And developong characters abilities didn't feel straining or grind-worthy because they would quite quickly level up. There were just so many job classes you could just choose what you wanted.

The story, I admit, was not the best. FFX was very deep and touching. X-2, not so much. But I really enjoyed it anyway. Then again, I listen to pop songs and like cosplay and I like humor. I didn't mind that the game didn't take itself seriously anymore.

So yeah, I'm actually all for XIII-2 because I liked X-2. If they make the right improvements it should be fine

You have to give props to Jennifer Hale for being able to voice all that pretentious out-of-context nonsense. Let's just hope the infamously lucky number XIII doesn't get hyped way out of proportion again and then branded as a disappointment because, despite being a great game, did not hail the second-coming of Christ.
actually that is Ali Hillis. Liara in Mass Effect.
