Final Fantasy XV Confirmed For 2016 Release

//cdn.themis-media.com/media/global/images/library/deriv/861/861400.png
Happy New Year! Square promises that 2016 will see the release of Final Fantasy XV.

the game will release in 2016 [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/final%20fantasy%20xv?os=%20final%20fantasy%20xv].

"We will finally release FFXV this year, in 2016!" wrote Hajime Tabata, the game's developer. "In development, previous phases required wisdom and strength. However, moving forward the final phase will focus on effort and willpower."

"I vow to you all that every member in the team will do their best to the very last possible moment taking responsibility and pride in their craft."

So, Final Fantasy fans, it's been a long, long time coming but we can now finally see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Taking Bets! Who thinks the plot will be Kojima level crazy?! I got $5 that voice actors will all be speak-n-spell robots!
And lets go crazy! $10 says there won't be just 1 quirky bubbly girl in either short shorts or miniskirt, but 2 entire bubbly girls in short shorts or miniskirts!

Oh yay, more prettied teenagers with cardboard personalities that seem to believe a good substitute for that is to cover themselves in scraps of broken fashion sense. It's almost like the creators are doll-making enthusiasts. Quite disconcerting to muse upon. Cannot muster the enthusiasm at the idea of another CGI-fest, but maybe this will be the one to change my mind? Not impossible. But highly doubtful, seeing any of these screenshots.

Considering that's practically the Duke Nukem Forever of the Final Fantasy franchise, put your money where your mouth is Square.

The demo looked neat, in any case. I just hope that with the whole road trip thing going on, the game is back to having an open world. What other point would there be to having a car? Probably not gonna risk a preorder though. While I don't think XIII was as bad as many say, I was still burned by how underwhelming it was.

I just wonder how much it cost to make in total and if it's even possible to make their money back if it doesn't sell as well as GTA 5 did.

I just don't see this being very good.

You'd think after FF:TSW they'd have learned NOT to sink so much money into ONE project.

Wonder who will bail out SE, maybe they'll become Square-EniXSEED?

I'll put $10 on them saying it's coming out in 2016 all the way up until the calendar year flips again.

So, I played an hour of J6/US3 , and three hours of 9 and 12 each. I like the concepts and worlds, but I hate playing FF games. But if the roadtrip is the whole game, or at least half, I'm super excited to watch it on Youtube. It looks like a great idea. I just find it weird I'm in the minority for a game series I know nothing about.

Oh I did almost beat Crystal Chronicles, I enjoyed that one.

When I was a teenager, I was hyped for this . But now I am almost 21 and lost interest in this. Not a fan of Boybands and spiky hair anymore I guess. However, the graphics looked amazing tho.

Or bunny ears. Lets not forget the bunny ears.
And belts, so many buckles, it must be like wearing an iron throne.
I predict another anthromorphed animal type. Maybe a panda? A rodent would be tooo.... hyper, and entirely too OCD about shiny things. Most likely some sort of feline.

Wow, I didn't expect so many people sharing my general line of thought.

To be fair, I never was hyped for the game. When it was still Versus XIII I just hoped for it to be better than XIII. Now I have a feeling that it's going to be kind of worst, to be honest. Unless there is a huge twist and the boys band dies somewhere at the end of a prologue, I cannot see myself playing through the whole game with them. 3 out of 4 shown party members annoy me. And there is also this "dark and gritty reboot" feeling about the game I can't shake off. Final Fantasy games (for the most part) always had a rather diverse bunch of characters and stories that could be both lighthearted and tragic and that is one of the endearing traits of the franchise. Remember what happened last time FF decided to be dark and gritty? FFVIII happened. There is also the fact that we don't actually know much about RPG aspect. Do party members actually level up anymore, or is it now full-blown action game?

Anyhow, I keep my hopes low. Either this game will turn out actually good and I'll be pleasantly surprised, or it will be bad, I won't feel dissapointed and maybe FF franchise will be fknally put to rest after 3 (4 with XV) complete failures.

Please don't let Square anywhere near XSeed, over the past year Trails in the Sky has become my favourite JRPG!

Thinking about it though I think it would be kind of awesome if Disney bought Square. They need to go back to the focus of actually releasing games, and maybe a nice touch would be to do what they did after FFVIII and 'go back to their roots', which is how we got an actual fantasy game with FFIX.

The buckles/belts/zipper thing is a product of Tesuya Nomura being involved in a high level of design work, hence it's prevalence in the Kingdom Hearts games.

Whatever. They got a new title for which to promise a close, definite release date that they will keep pushing back for years, Kingdom Hearts 3. Anyways, I lost faith in new Final Fantasy titles years ago,[footnote]Speciffically, after playing (but liking) X and XII, then hearing what XIII would be like, I realized Square was trying too hard to "inovate" after the PS1 era and lost sight of what makes Final Fantasy.[/footnote] and nothing I've seen from FFXV restores any hope. I'm now more interested in seeing if they don't screw the FFVII remake up royally. (I can only hope they don't somehow jack up the PC release of IX.)

If that really happened, I'd scrape together my last few pennies to get a next gen console and a copy of the game. The party of XV looks so homogenized that I'd rather try to get through XIII again. There really needs to be a legal limit (or a bishie to female/gruff male ratio) on the amount of bishonens in a single JRPG party.

Yea, the original trailer skipped over the part where a lumber truck screams by and "Highway to Hell" starts playing over the radio. BTW someone should absolutely make that mashup using FF characters.

HOLD THAT THOUGHT!..

Lets take a look at the FF games I've played:
-V has Bartz, who is neither bish nor gruff, but someone inbetween and Galuf is rather old, so I remove him from equation.
-VI has Edgar, Setzer and Locke, who are pretty and Sabin, Cyan and Shadow who are gruff (Gau and Strago are removed).
-VII has Cloud and Vincent (bish) and Cid and Barret (gruff);
-VIII has 3 male party members and they are all pretty;
-IX has Zidane (pretty), Steiner and Amarant (gruff);
-X has Tidus (pretty), Wakka and Auron (gruff);
-XII has Vaan, Balthier (pretty) and Bash (gruff);
-XIII has Snow and Sazh (both being on a gruffier side).

To conclude, the successful bish-to-gruff rario is 50/50 or 33/66. See how VIII and XIII failed and have 100% ratio of either gruff or bish?
Which means, sadly, that if my theory is correct, if nobody does a "rockfall" to the XV's party, it will fail.
