After 8 seasons and a movie My Little Pony Friendship is Magic is coming to an end with season 9, which begins airing this Saturday 4/6.

It's been a wild ride but personally, who would have thought a show that was intended to be canceled after season 3 would go on to have 6 more. However, I think we got enough FIM. I'm ready for something new with a better thought out history and princesses that are allowed to do something.

Should be good, actually excited. Thought I'll be honest, the Mane 6 are like the least interesting characters these days. Its ironic. They kept adding new characters and expanding background characters, they forgot to do anything with the Mane. There's like 15+ better, more interesting character the episodes should be about rather than just 'its another Twilight' episode.
Not that those are bad, but I mean you've have 8 seasons of 'Its another Twilight' episodes

Eventually her library was destroyed and she got her own Castle Play Set, but currently she's not a princess of anything. She's just kinda an Alicorn of...Pending...
Also no real adventures happened. she became a princess, got a castle, no guards, no kingdom, no laws or responsibilities. She stared a Friendship school for all creatures, that's going well and had like 2 episodes of drama but otherwise is just the mane6 teaching the next gen.
Apparently this new season she takes over Equestria, but that's the only real change since season 3

Well in season 4 they find a chest at the tree of harmony and it ends with a big dbz style fight with Tyrek which destroys Twilights tree but the box grows a crystal castle for her to live in.

Season 5 introduces the cutie map which lights up when there is a friendship problem somewhere with the cutie marks of ponies who should go deal with it. It also introduces Starlight Glimmer who has established a town of equality including removing everyones cutie marks, the final is about Twilight having to fight her to save her friends cutie marks and discovering shes as powerful a unicorn as Twilight is so shes gotta out argue her.

In season 6 Glimmer has turned a new leaf and is Twilight's apprentice but shes still kinda evil, well, not so much evil but much more willing to just use magic as shortcut then Twilight is. A changling shows up and makes friends with spike. She makes friends with Trixie, the final ends up with Starlight, Trixie, the changeling (lets call him steve) and Discord teamup to defeat Chrysalis after she takes out everyone else. They win, its a good final. And the changings join Steve and all become multi colored except Chrysalis who takes off.

Season 7 further grows Starlight, it introduces the pillars of harmony, which were old heroes with teamed up to do stuff, good final but it ends up kinda fucking with the history of the world more then was already done.

Season 8 introduces the friendship school and has the student 6. A yak named Yona, a griffin named Gallus, a pony named Sandbar, a Hippogriff named Silverstream, and a changling named Ocellus. They are pretty fun.

Nah, season 1 is actually one of the weakest. It was made back when Hasbro was trying to get tax credit for doing a show for younger kids, after that fell through they were more willing to take risks. After totally fantastic seasons like 5, 6 and 7 its really hard to go back to season 1.

I still think this was one of the worst ideas for the show. "Hey, remember when everyone organically went to places for their own reasons and stumbled across a problem to solve, or plot took them there and it felt natural and real? Wasn't that good?" "Haha, yeah... Now scrap that shit, let's just have them stare at a table and have mystical bullshit tell them to go to a place, then they spend 1/4 of the episode being lost and confused while trying to find said problem."

I was way into this show, like, five years ago. I thought the fanbase was kinda neat in how dedicated it was. But somewhere along the line it became some weird sex thing.

I mean, they're reportedly coming out with Gen 5 next year anyway, and it's featuring at least some of the same characters, so...yeah.

Anyway, I stopped watching sometime during season 7 or 8, but I guess if it's the end, the season's at least implying that it's wrapping things up. But whether it's a proper wrap up or a season 3 wrap up (episode where the last five minutes struggle to imply that it was actually leading to this all along) remains to be seen.

Someone once said "Nothing last foever" or was it "All things come to an end".

Either way it would of bond to happened sooner or later despite how big it was. Granted I thought it could of gone on one more season to get a more rounded number but nines seasons is still an accomplistment.

I'm fine it's ending. The show doesn't wow me anymore compared to the very early seasons and adding more didn't really help to keep entertaining.

I watched the first four seasons and the 100th episode. I've written a couple of fanfics. In one of them Spike fucks a dog. And I am embarrassed about it all, mostly :^). And I certainly can't take any grown-up liking that show very seriously. Unless it's totes ironically like Anthony Bourdain (he even ate Rainbow Dash... twice). But he's dead now.
