Season 5 introduces the cutie map which lights up when there is a friendship problem somewhere with the cutie marks of ponies who should go deal with it.
I still think this was one of the worst ideas for the show. "Hey, remember when everyone organically went to places for their own reasons and stumbled across a problem to solve, or plot took them there and it felt natural and real? Wasn't that good?" "Haha, yeah... Now scrap that shit, let's just have them stare at a table and have mystical bullshit tell them to go to a place, then they spend 1/4 of the episode being lost and confused while trying to find said problem."

Yaaayyy [small]friendship[/small]
I'm torn on the Cutie Map, on one hand your right, it is really inorganic, but on the other its a good way to get characters to get out of their comfort zone and reduce the role of Twilight in the series a bit. Don't get me wrong, I like Twilight but sometimes yo uwant to see how the rest of the mane6 interact without her.

So, like, why are they ending it?

I mean, they're reportedly coming out with Gen 5 next year anyway, and it's featuring at least some of the same characters, so...yeah.

Anyway, I stopped watching sometime during season 7 or 8, but I guess if it's the end, the season's at least implying that it's wrapping things up. But whether it's a proper wrap up or a season 3 wrap up (episode where the last five minutes struggle to imply that it was actually leading to this all along) remains to be seen.
Its better to end on a high note then go too long. The show is already kinda bursting on the edges from things it needed to do but didn't, like let Celestia do something.

They aren't using the same characters in gen 5, just the same names, which is something the mlp brand has done since the start.

But somewhere along the line it became some weird sex thing.
The internet does that with the majority of products.

If it exists, there is porn of it.

Could never get in to the show. I saw a few episodes here and there. I understood the appeal, but it was not for me. Lpus, I found Pinkie Pie very annoying.

But see, that's the thing. The show doesn't NEED to have Twilight be the focus point. I can think of plenty of reasons why 2 characters might get dragged along to a place they might not usually go. Some examples... Why would Rarity wanna be at a dirty and excessively cowboy-like show with Applejack? Fashion ideas for a new line for a high ranking client, and something goes wrong at the show. Maybe Rainbow Dash gets dragged to the biggest Library in Equestria by Twilight for some important business and it's the most boring thing ever, as all of the books in the library are archive stuff RD wouldn't wanna read, and say... Fluttershy comes with. Daring Do has a book signing thing in the afternoon, but Twilight's thing is in the morning and she's held up. Suddenly something is amiss and Rainbow and Fluttershy gotta solve it before Daring do's autograph time is up. Sure Twilight is the reason they're there, but she ends up having nothing to do with solving the problem.

Super, super easy to make some of these things happen in the same format that happened before that map came into play while keeping the 2 pony max per problem format they added in after its addition. That's kinda why it simply feels like laziness.
