I´v been waiting for ever for something like this.
The procursors lookt promesing a few years ago. but when they dont seem to have a plan to translate it to english the probability that its ever going to be ported to console is a minimum.
But today I stumbled upon this

I can´t believe I have missed this as it´s released in 12 days!!

Gargh, there is a REASON why that hasn't been done much: it doesn't work!

Some games are, and should remain, the purview of PC gaming: flight sims, RTS and FPS (although there is SOME play on that last one). The controllers simply don't have the precision of a mouse, and the controls just work MUCH easier on a keyboard!

I'm obviously biased, that's just my thought.

And yes, I did play Lylat Wars (or Starfox 64), and liked it. But from my other experiences, that seemed to be massively exceptional.

I remember playing a "space flight shooter" on the 360 already actually. Can't remember the game's name, but I know the main character's name was Katana. Katana, take this out. Katana, we could use some back up. The civilian ship is under attack Katana. Nice going Katana. Gagh! Watch where you're shooting Katana.

In my hands it does. I am good with a controller. A mouse and keyboard does not make you a pro. Its the person using it that ultimatly matters. If I ussed a mouse and keyboard for gaming, I would not do as well as I usually do. I am used to a controller. I am best with a controller. Just because you are best with a keyboard does not mean the whole world is.

I much prefer consoles to PCs for flight sims. The mouse just doesn't feel right and I often find myself expecting a different y-axis setting to what the mouse is set to.

That's simply not true. A mouse is simply easier to control with precision. Once you get used to a controller you can be just as accurate with it. I use xpadder and a controller for every pc game I play. I do fine with RTS and flight sims this way. For the games that require more buttons I use my Steel Battalion controller though.

This is the last comment I'll put here, then I'll leave before this turns into a PC v console argument which nobody will win. Yes, you can get just as precise with the controller...with practice. So you need to spend time improving your skills to the same level as the mouse gives you. Without meaning to sound snobbish, doesn't that kind of take away from the fun? "I'm playing a game, and all I need to do is play the first level a half-dozen times before I can control my fighter as good as the game assumes I can!" With the ease of the mouse and keyboard you can skip over a large amount of the inevitable issues and get right into the game, without having to remember how to activate boosters or whatever.

Well, unlike the mouse and keyboard, there aren't really any games you can't play without a controller.(unless they require typed commands specifically, but then I can use a controller and keyboard anyway) So by choosing to use a controller, both pc games and console games are something I'm practiced with. There's not any "playing the first level a half-zen times" for me, because it's an acquired "skill", not warming up enough. If you wanted to play a game that's console exclusive though, being less used to a controller means you'd have a more difficult time.

Bah, I don't think I'm being very clear. To put it simply, the controller is more difficult to get used to, but benefits from the fact that I can use it exclusively and not miss out on any games. And feel free to continue posting. I love to argue and debate.

I'm better with a controller than I am with a keyboard and mouse because I've had more practice with a controller like you stated. But what you said doesn't make too much sense either because you would need practice with the keyboard and mouse as well. It's not as if everyone who plays on PC can instantly pwn everyone on the map just because they have a keyboard and mouse, they would need to practice with them to become skilled at it.

I'm a PC gamer through and through but the mouse is FUCKING AWFUL for flight/space sims. The wee sticks on a controller are an improvement but still poor compared to a proper joystick ('proper' in this case meaning some kind of yoke mechanism, lots of programmable buttons, throttle lever, and a 'coolie hat').

But Controller Vs Mouse? Controller every time. Hell, I'd rather go (and have done so) keys only than use a mouse for a flight sim.

Hey, I have Darkstar One for PC.

Don't get your hopes up. It's outstandingly average, and full of ill defined aliens, who exist to go "ooo, I'm an alien! This game is set in SPACE!"

Also, all the space pirates talked with funny accents. Mainly Irish. "Oh top o' the mornin' to ya, we're takin yer cargo". With bad voice acting. And an irritating "love interest" sidekick, who of course gets kidnapped.

Also, it had a shitty ship leveling up system and very linear weapon progression- human space has shitty lasers, and the further away you go from human space, the better weapons become. But you can't use them unless you get artifacts, which pretty much mean that money is irrelevant, because there are a limited amount of artifacts (all in scripted locations, no randomisation), and you need more to get a level up and use better weapons. Yeah. Your ship gains levels. THE SHIP. Not the character, the ship. It adapts, or some bullshit, using artifacts as a resource.

EDIT: you can hear the Irish pirates, about 43 seconds in. It looks like the exact same game. Exact. Same ship, same graphics, same voice acting, same irritating main character and love interest (that's them on the box at the end). It's a bad game.

If you want a good space sim, get X3: Terran Conflict. Darkstar one is just like it, but with all the depth stripped out.

Actually, on the technical level, it is true, at least for most laser based mouses.

BUT

The kicker there is the amount of precision available doesn't mean you're able to use it all. A lot of people find the Ultra precise gaming mouses to be oversensitive, finicky little shits not worth the expense.

... and just like a controller, it does take practice to get any sort of quick precision.

This is pretty much the game in a nutshell, but i want to get into the more spicy conversation.

First of all, those who play on consoles more that PC gamers will be better using a controller than a PC gamer and vice versa... thats physics (not really but when you think about it with head removed from ass it sort of makes sense.) And because of that its really a silly argument to be having right?

Is it actually easier for people who have never gamed to jump in with a mouse and keyboard? Hahaha not that i've noticed but they are pretty damn awful with a controller too so I can't bare to watch. "You can shoot me and i'll only melee you ok? I win 25-2... yes... that terrible."

However some games work better on a PC... looking at you RTS but even then you only notice a real difference in high skill matches. Watching a novice on PC vs console its remarkably similar.

Anyways im running off but a space sim would work with a controller hell its more like a joystick than a mouse and keyboard is no?

Why in heel would you choose either a controller or a mouse and keyboard for a flight sim, mouse and keyboard is very poor, superior only to keyboard alone or a wheel, a controller is slightly better, but not a patch on a proper joystick or yoke.

Thrilling RPG tactics? Uhh what, looked to me like every other space flight sim zoom around shoot lazors and win, or did I miss something?
