Man, Christmas came early this year for me. I thought they were done with the Elder Scrolls after Fallout 3, and I was pissed that they'd abandon (or is it abondone?) such a rich game franchise to do these strange games like Rage and Hunted, but thank god, Elder Scrolls V!!! I mean Fallout 3 was dumb to me and Oblivion was creeping me out with the way ABSOLUTELY NO ONE HAD A BEARD...but screw it, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is coming out, and I'm seriously so happy! Is anyone as pumped as I am right now, or are you upset they aren't working on another Fallout game?

I'm quite sure Bethesda is working on the next Fallout game as well. Many game development companies employee multiple teams to work on projects simultaneously.

That being said, I'm definitely excited for it. I do, however, hope that the new engine allows for the mod support that the other games had.

I agree with you on the lack of beards being an issue.

Nords, by definition, must have beards. Hopefully they will upgrade their new beard technology in the new engine.

I hope they fix the combat mechanics up a bit more so there can be larger scale battles. In oblivion I always seemed to whack my allies instead of the target.

That and fix magic so it increases when you level up.

And don't have bandit gear level up with you.

And put levitate back in.

AndAndAndAnd...
It will probably be pretty good, hopefully it will have more to it than "Repel the invasion from Skyrim" though...I wanna go to Summerset

I just hope that Bethesda doesn't cross ideas... like... "Hey the level up and perk system in Fallout worked really well... So... Lets throw that in Elder Scrolls 5". Also, I hope they don't sacrifice content for graphics like they did in the fallout series... Say what you want about how much content the fallout games had in them, Oblivion had way more (I cite the comparative lengths of the guides of each game, Oblivion's guide was much larger).

I'm happy because now when I hear people talking about Elder Scrolls I'll know there's a chance they aren't talking about Oblivion. Seriously, I get that it's a good game, but I've been hearing a little too much about over the past what, almost five years?

I'm a bit excited, I like the idea of the Elder Scrolls series, but I thought Oblivion was just kinda boring.
I do enjoy fantasy RPGs though, and I have high hopes that working with a new engine, that they can finally fix some long standing problems I've had with their games.

Mainly: the people are ass ugly with overly fat faces, the movement animations are stilted, and the third person view always always always sucks!

I know those really have nothing to do with the actual "game" aspect of the games, but they've always bothered me.

Still, I know I'll be keeping an eye on Skyrim.

Fallout: NV sated my needs for more Fallout and i'm sure there'll be a few more DLC's for it, so i'm good there. I loved Oblivion, even though I never completed the main story line. I'm really looking forward to a new one. They just get more awesome with each iteration. :)

Yeah its good news for me, since Ive got something to fall back on if Bioware continue to generally dumb down and ruin the Mass Effect series.

However, if they start developing the game so that its not just one linear shooting gallery after another, Ill probably be buying TWO games late next year that have the potential to suck up hours of my time. Bethesda dont reach as high as Bioware used to for me, but because of Biowares recent attitude of "lets dumb the living shit out of our games", they dont get anywhere near as low either, so Bethesda are a pretty much given purchase, so its just to see if Bioware gets it right with ME3 too and gets my money as well.

Rage and Hunted are being developed by id (you know, the company that invented FPS) and inXile respectively, and are only being published by Bethesda. They have nothing to do with th development.

OT: I feel my excitement was eclipsed by the Mass Effect 3 trailer launching on the same day. Maybe nearer the time.

Dear god, people have such a skewed memory of Morrowind. >_<
If you mean how everyone worships it like it was a god, then that's because it was. I never really enjoyed it that much myself(no where near as much as I enjoyed Oblivion) but I'll be damned if it wasn't an amazing game. But I have a feeling that Skyrim, whether you're an Oblivion fan boy or Morrowind fanboy, will easily be the best Elder Scrolls yet.

I don't know what you're basing this on, but Morrorwind was at least 30 times better than the other one.
