Finding good L4D players

I, like a lot of people, just picked up the game this weekend with two buddies and I'm finding it REALLY hard to find someone half competent to round out our team. Is there any trick to finding someone who has a concept of sticking together, who isn't a greifer, and isn't 12?

Not really. Unless you know people who have the game, youre stuck with either the comptuer (which is half decent) or dumbshits. Enjoy =D

Well Im decent in L4D and Im 16 so it works out and Im really good at the buddy system in that game, and are you playing it on PC or Xbox 360, because I have the 360 version.

The only advice I could give you is, trial and error because unless you know someone that good at the game you might as well play a few levels and pick from the few good to decent players that you find.

Are you on xbox live or Steam? If the former, I would suggest finding on other person you know with an xbox and forcing them to buy L4D. If you are on Steam, in my experience the player base is pretty good, just keep doing matchmaking, and whenever you find someone who seems to know one end of a gun from the other, shoot off a friend request. Also, try the higher difficulties, as they tend to weed out the idiots.

I'd love to play. I've had the game for a while but have yet to play online, but that doesn't mean I'm not competent. Bonus: I'm not 12!

Honestly, L4D isn't that hard of a game. The vast majority of it is simply doing the right things at the right time. There's really no reason why a semi-competent player can't do Advanced; finding a good player comes down to finding someone willing to spend a couple hours learning the game, then playing it for real.
