I realize that this site is devoted to electronic gaming almost exclusively, but has anyone tried to find or start a pen and paper game recently? My girlfriend stumbled upon a group of people who attempted to play D&D3.5e over Skype and one of the open source map systems, and that prompted me to dig out my D&D3.5e books.

Anyway, after looking online and asking around the local comic/game shop, I haven't been able to find a local game. The shop's selling the books quite well, 4e and traded in copies of 3.5e books; but none of the games are hosted in the shop like back in the day. Just wondering if anyone else had a similar experience or advice on where to look for an online game (still pen and paper, I'm not looking for a CRPG).

We try to cover a lot of PnP stuff here too - we like both kinds.

I don't know about playing online, but one thing you might want to do is drop your ZIP code into Wizard's store locator at http://ww2.wizards.com/StoreAndEventLocator/ - if your comic shop isn't one of their "Premier" locations, you might want to try a different one nearby. The premium locations also run events and stuff, so they might have more activity.

I know that locally, the Premier stores are the ones who have owners that are really into gaming, and know all about what's going on in the area. The other ones are just stores that happen to sell books and such.

I don't see alot of PnP coverage, it doesn't seem to be as popular. Thanks for the link.

Edit: One of Wizard's Premier stores was a place I had assumed was closed because it didn't have a website, or any feedback on google/yahoo business/map sites. Found two regular games in the area that I'm going to check out.
