Casuals win again
That is a very narrow-minded way to think. Truth is everyone wins. The purists get our classic permadeath mode, the regular players get their casual mode, and FE gets to be played by a lot more people ensuring that the series will continue.

I'm a little jealous of the people who desperately wanted a "SUPER HARDCORE OMG" game, I just don't have that much time to commit to a game anymore... I mean retrying and retrying and retrying and retrying and retrying and retrying and retrying and retrying and retrying and driving myself mad with insane difficulty only to suddenly get a rise when you at long last beat the damn thing when I could be playing more games, reading books, writing, designing roleplaying games, going to movies, watching TV, working a full time job, going to the gym...

Actually no... I think I prefer games easier that way I can actually enjoy my life AND my videogames.

please tell me more about what the 'hard core' fans have lost here?

oh wait ... you haven't ... your beloved 'classic' setting is every thing you desire from the game, so your argument here is? what exactly?

it's not like its the new DMC where the game on all setting is noticeably easier. sides, don't you 'hardcore' FE players just reset if you lose a guy anyway? kinda shooting your own argument in the head if ya do.

Some games are defined by their crushing difficulty. Dark Souls, for example
Why do people act like Dark Souls is a stand alone game without a prequel? You know, Demons Souls came out first.
Because Dark Souls was multiplatform (meaning it has a larger player base) and came out more recently. Also, Demons Souls wasn't a prequel to Dark Souls. Dark Souls was it's "spiritual successor" due to Sony having exclusive rights to Demons Souls.

To be fair to the "Hardcorites" I can see how the Permadeath can add a lot of drama to the battles without scripted events, having characters simply "leave the battlefield" does lack a bit of punch and consequence. But at the same time when I'm still "figuring" out the game I'm glad I don't have to reload every time I lose a character.
