Hey look, an actual Dota 2 update after the game officially released! What's new, you ask? Well here's some that intrigued me:

- Medusa in CM
- Out of the box LAN support
- New game mode known as Captain's Draft, which pretty much is Captain's Mode with a randomized, limited hero pool.
- Cloud control groups that are specific to each hero that persist throughout different matches
- An armory where cosmetics and all will go that takes the place of the current backpack
- And obviously, more hats cosmetics and them damned chests.

There's more obviously, but I'm too lazy to copy paste right now.

Just thought I'd share, because I don't really see anything about it being discussed on the Escapist. It was announced only today after all, if I remember correctly.

Personally, this is one of the patches that I don't mind having. I'd remember having a fellow friend of mine going on for a long time about how he wanted Legion Commander from a whole back, but this is perfectly fine. Exceptional, I'd call it because there's features in this patch that quite satisfy me, key being LAN support and the control groups as I like me some micro heroes. I'd also see LAN making Dota 2 really good for areas with spotty Internet, which is just overall great all over the world or just when I'm having a LAN party with Doto.

Meta wise, I guess I get to farm like a madman in CM via Medusa for 25 minutes then. Playing against OD also got less bullshit because he will return your mana this time, but then there's no fountain hooking now.

I guess I like the features of the game more in this patch. I wanna play CD now. I can't wait for Monday to come fast, even though I have a feeling I'll be busy again.

So, anything interesting? Exciting? Surprising? Discuss, as I'd like to see what other Escapists think of this patch. As usual, I'm just curious about the thoughts of others.

Oh, and since all the ARTS topics eventually devolve into wankery fests over League and Dota, let's not to flame over the two. League is different game. No point comparing apples and oranges. =P

I'm really happy about the cloud save hotkeys. I love playing Brewmaster, and it drives me crazy that I have to redo my spirit hotkeys the first time I ult every match. This will encourage me to play him more. The rest of the features are great as well, even though I won't use them much. It's great for the general scene, especially the LAN. As for Medusa, I don't see her getting picked much in competitive. She is way too item dependent.

I'm so glad that they're making Spirit Breaker's bash even more OP...the one thing the game could really use is a hero that jumps at you from nowhere and stuns you until you're dead, and Spirit Breaker was clearly not powerful enough already.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the new game mode. And LAN support will be cool if there's ever 10 people round my house who play dota.

I'm just excited for the Glados announcer pack :D

Also the rework of the inventory ui is something I've been wanting for a long time, my inventory is currently an absolute nightmare to manage.

Oh yeah, Captain's Draft sounds really cool, looking forward to trying it out next time I'm in a full party.

I'm still pretty disappointed that a lot of older heroes haven't been added to the workshop submission tools yet, would love to have some cosmetics coming in for some of my favourite heroes like Undying or Ancient Apparition.

Erm as far as I can tell they are just fixing a couple of minor bugs that affect Spirit Breaker, they aren't exactly buffing him.

Pudge: Meat Hook now pulls the target to the initial hook position regardless of where Pudge is
Hahahahahaha!

OK, I feel conflicted about this - on one hand, no more fountain hooks, on the other hand, they were so much fun. And note that I don't really play either Pudge or anybody who'd help one to fountain hook (Wisp/Chen) so I'm mostly on the receiving end of them and yet, I still like them in play, I think they are fun. But also annoying, if I have to be honest, mostly for others but still annoying.

Other than that, I can say one thing

Item purchases can be made at the secret shop if the courier is at that location without selecting the courier
FINALLY!

Man i've played one SB game and he is just not good for me, I thought I played Man Mode people in League but that's just fucking too much. I know i'll end up throwing a game by going 1v5 60 times in a row.

I played an SB/Tiny lane with my friend vs a Venomancer/some random ranged support no idea who. We both died to poke once then the turning point was when I looked at his charge and was in base "charge, charge, where's the range indicator on this thing? Smartcast doesn't disable ranged indictors... umm, *clicks on random enemy unit* *_*"

Then we rekt all of them once I hit 6 and Rookie discovered Tiny's bullshit throw damage.

Best hero in game nerf pls. There was a point where I clicked from base to a 200HP enemy and was genuinely giggling like a little girl over Skype.

Seriously I know fuck all about the patch except there's a GLaDOS voice coming out, that I would buy if the price is somewhat low. I fuckin' don't like how Valve is doing the TF2 thing where you fuck up a character's design by putting shit hats on. League has precise and fully thought through skins.

Im pretty happy with the patch log and I don't even really get to play much right now. Then again I just like seeing how things change and what that means for the game in general

Anyone notice how the Announcer pack as Glados say Deathmatch as a mode? Pretty psyched for new modes ^^

I've never had a game where I played SB and the entire enemy team stayed to the end. It's sad really.
