Hey look, an actual Dota 2 update after the game officially released! What's new, you ask? Well here's some that intrigued me:
- Medusa in CM
- Out of the box LAN support
- New game mode known as Captain's Draft, which pretty much is Captain's Mode with a randomized, limited hero pool.
- Cloud control groups that are specific to each hero that persist throughout different matches
- An armory where cosmetics and all will go that takes the place of the current backpack
- And obviously, morehats cosmetics and them damned chests.
There's more obviously, but I'm too lazy to copy paste right now.
Just thought I'd share, because I don't really see anything about it being discussed on the Escapist. It was announced only today after all, if I remember correctly.
Personally, this is one of the patches that I don't mind having. I'd remember having a fellow friend of mine going on for a long time about how he wanted Legion Commander from a whole back, but this is perfectly fine. Exceptional, I'd call it because there's features in this patch that quite satisfy me, key being LAN support and the control groups as I like me some micro heroes. I'd also see LAN making Dota 2 really good for areas with spotty Internet, which is just overall great all over the world or just when I'm having a LAN party with Doto.
Meta wise, I guess I get to farm like a madman in CM via Medusa for 25 minutes then. Playing against OD also got less bullshit because he will return your mana this time, but then there's no fountain hooking now.
I guess I like the features of the game more in this patch. I wanna play CD now. I can't wait for Monday to come fast, even though I have a feeling I'll be busy again.
So, anything interesting? Exciting? Surprising? Discuss, as I'd like to see what other Escapists think of this patch. As usual, I'm just curious about the thoughts of others.
Oh, and since all the ARTS topics eventually devolve into wankery fests over League and Dota, let's not to flame over the two. League is different game. No point comparing apples and oranges. =P
