Rape? JK JK JK no offence, but seriusly go for a movie mabey?
OT: Well, the best one was with my current girlfriend. I picked her up from school, we went out to the fanciest dinner I could afford and went to a local concert it was pretty cool.
The worst one I've ever had was my first GF who I took to the fair, she ended up getting sick on one of the rides and vomiting on me...

Movies don't provide enough to time to talk and I hate talking over dinner.

So for me it would be just hanging out with her.

Pretty straightforward - best first date ideas win a virtual cookie and my gratitude if it works when I try it. xD

SHOOT.
Don't go to a movie, that's so.. boring. That scenario requires very little interaction, so there is no way of forming a connection. Take something simple and then create something more out of it. I picked my now girlfriend up for our first date and took her to lunch. I got this Italian restaurant to give us our pasta to take away and went and sat in the sun by a lake to eat. We ended up hanging out there all afternoon taking and getting to know each other. Can't do that at a movie.

Simple is best, but just make sure that it is memorable so she will want to see you again :D
That's awesome. : ) I may just steal that idea.

More info on the target would be useful. Shall I assume we are talking about a girl?

Dinner and movie is always an option as stated above. Does the female human like books? I have gone to a movie, dinner and book stoer because the girl loved books.

Does the Human female like art and have a sense of humor? I once went out to eat with a girl and she kept looking at the kids one table over and their crayons and coloring stuff. I asked the waitress to bring us some before she stole the kids crayons. That was a fun night.

Depending on the human females likes and dislikes we could work many different scenarios here.
Female, human (o_O ... This isn't Mass Effect. :p), fun loving, dislikes cliches, loves to dance ....

Go on a picnic?
Bring chocolate and a teddy bear.
And try to remember any trivias about her (like birth day, favourite bands, color etc).

Or is that only in dating sims?

if you're my age ( mid-late teens ), Movies followed by Nando's is like the classiest stunt you can pull, provided you can keep her entertianed. And gives you an 88.34% chance of getting laid on the first date. But do you have about £40 to spare for some stress relief/human contact or are you saving for a game? That is your cunundrum

It really depends on how well you know the person. If you guys are friend or have been talking for awhile starting out with dinner and a movie can be a good idea. However if you really don't know each other that well you should go do something interactive and fun, such as bowling or mini putting.

Depends on what the girl likes. A restaurant is a good ending for a date, but should be preceded by something else.

Perhaps bowling? A bit of go-karting, or an amateur theather show? Something with a bit of activity, but no sweating; the girl will hate you if her preparations like make-up and hair get wasted while on your date. Or at least, before the very end. Going to a movie is more than a bit cliché, but a fairly solid if uninspiring option. A bit of window shopping might work for some girls, perhaps while travelling from where-ever you were to dinner.

The point is, try to find some activity that isn't physically strenuous and doesn't ruing the girls preparations, but that you both can enjoy and laugh and discuss over, followed by dinner (or if during the day, coffee/tea. At a bit more upscale place if possible).

the movies, picnics and such can come at later dates when you already know eachother a bit and aren't akward at eachothers compnay doing...basically nothing, except focusing on the other.

*assumes it is a she, you didn't say*

Take here anywhere that implies you feel she is an equal, either in ability, bravery, or in capacity to learn quickly. This could be an opportunity for YOU to try something new.

Paintballing, a large arcade, someone said skydiving, go on a hike saying that she gets to set the pace...

Edit:

We are in something of a bind not knowing your financial limitations, and anything about her.

My first one worked out rather well. We went to our local river, walked along it, found a nice hill overlooking part of the river, and sat down together for hours... I agree, don't go to the movies, go somewhere quiet, somewhere where you'll feel alone, but not be! We didn't take any food... but a picnic may be nice!
