So Escapists, which game was the first to bring you joy/ frustration such a long/ short time ago? I remember my first game, it was Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. IT WAS GLORIOUS.

I think it was Top Gun for the original Nintendo. I know it was a combat flight sim game where you'd fight against other jets and sometimes ships (depending on the difficulty and mission/level).

I honestly cant remember with 100% accuracy, but I think it was pokemon red/blue/yellow, or some of the early Sonic games on SEGA. If it wasnt that, then it'll be something very old from the mario franchise. The most iconic games from my childhood are pokemon, mario, sonic, and later on Croc and Hype-the-time-quest. And Worms and Liero.

The original Mario and Duck Hunt for Nintendo popped my gamer cherry. I can't remember which I found more irritating: Constantly falling due to missed timed jumps on the sky levels, or that ***** dog that kept laughing at me every time I missed a shot. Hated that dog...

"Hack" for the Commodore Amiga.

It's basically the precursor to "Nethack" which was the precursor to the now-popularish "Slash'em" which was the precursor to the now-popular "Dwarf Fortress". They're all (except DF) considered Rogue-likes after the original game "Rogue".

I was really young (4-ish?) and walking through dark corridors scared me. This was the version that had 8-bit sprites and not ASCII, so it was really scary.
I didn't ever beat that game until I was 20.

Mechwarrior 2: Titanium.

Instilled a love for all things 100 ton walking death machine with twin linked PPC's.Though to be honest, it took me a while to figure out how to actually get my mech to walk.

One of the tennis/football variants on the Binatone 4+2 TV games console (1977). You could make the bats small, or the ball faster or, for real hardcore players, both small bats and fast ball *at the same time*. The controller was a simple knob/dial on a plastic handle.

My first game was either Pokemon Yellow or Spyro the Dragon. I remember being stupid as hell when I first tried to play Pokemon, for some reason I thought that healing at the poke center was how you leveled up your pokemon. All I really remember about playing Spyro was that it was awesome as hell.

Space taxi [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Taxi], on Commodore 64. I think it was the year 1989 or 1990, I was around 6 years old. Few years later, we got the 8-bit Nintendo and holy frak were Super Mario 1 and Duck Hunt awesome.

I'm not entirely sure, but it was either Dungeon of Doom (listed under <a href =http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dungeon_Revealed>The Dungeon Revealed on the original Apple Macintosh or King's Quest III on.... I have no idea what it was.

I did play things like Stickybears Numbers and Stickybears Alphabet on the Apple IIe, but that was more faffing about for little kids than anything else.

Ah, the first one I can remember playing is Ocarina of Time on the N64, such a glorious game. That's probably part of the reason why I keep telling everyone that it's the greatest fucking game ever.

I've probably played games earlier than that, but I was too young to remember. I do remember very faintly that my dad had a SNES, but I can't recall playing it.

I only started gaming in high school and this was my first.

Not the best game in the world, but it got me into modding and making maps.
I modded the hell out of that game.
(You notice I only talk about modding the game, that's because it was boring as shit on it's own.)

I used to think Crash Bandicoot 2 for the PS1 was my first game, but then my dad told me that when I was really little, he let me play Duck Hunt with him and my older sister.
