So I recently got my A and B class licence and got around to grabbing my first two rifles.

I got a fairly good deal and they don't seem to be lemons (although as a novice shooter I am sure some better marksmen will tell me otherwise)

I am curious to any shooters out there what were your first guns ? :) do you still have them? did you regret choosing that set up ?

I bought a Marlin xt .22 lr, blued barrel and synthetic stock. I also got a Remington 700 in .243 sps tactical with synthetic stock and stainless barrel, for that I bought an Elite 4-16 by 40 scope and put the free sabre 3-9 by 40 on the Marlin.

I only paid 1100 for both rifles brand new with bags, the 3-9 scope and trigger locks and i paid 560 for the better scope.

Probably a little too much for a first rifle but I do love them :) (I've only shot out to 200 meters so I am not really proficient just yet :))

I have no idea about the cost of Australian firearms, but that doesn't seem too far off.

Also... .243 Winchester? I've never even seen ones of those before. Then again, we American's like our military cartridges (5.56/.223, 7.65/.308)

Anyway... my first rifle was actually my Dad's - It was some .22LR honest to god clip fed rifle. I've never even seen anything remotely similar to it since he threw it out (Shed got busted during the winter, the barrel rusted out).

I spent most of my time in the Army hauling around a M249. Also used quite a few M16s, M4s and M209s. M249 is still, hands down, my favorite firearm.

As for personnel firearms, I have 2 pistols. My first was the Beretta U22 Neos.

Fun little gun to fire. Would not suggest for accuracy or penetration (A sweater or motherboard is capable of stopping copper plated high velocity rounds fired from this at about 8 feet away. And I know this is not the case for all .22LR pistols). I should have gotten a .22LR conversion kit for my second firearm, my Kimber Custom II 1911 .45ACP.

This thing is hands down the best pistol ever.

As for rifles/// I want to get a PS-90 for target shooting, but that wont be happening for a while. Stupid hillbillies panicking and making gun prices skyrocket...

In any case... welcome to the wonderful world of firearm ownership!

I'm looking to get a mauser K98 in the next few years while my neighbor has an AK-47 with the bayonet which was a cool feature. I also want a revolver, I consider them to be classy and with a .357 magnum I'm pretty accurate.

To Accursed I've seen the neos and I like the sci-fi look to it, never fired it but it looks so cool.

Try firing one, it's a pretty enjoyable experience. I shot a tomato with the .357 magnum I mentioned and a few water bottles.

First two I fired were a Springfield M1903A4 and an M1-D Garand, both owned by my uncle. He used to take me target shooting from time to time on weekends when I was a teen. He collects WWI and WWII era firearms.

First one I bought was a Remington M870 for home defense and a Colt AR-15 HBAR for target shooting. In retrospect I probably wouldn't have bought the AR-15 since it's a tad expensive for target shooting, and honestly I don't get the chance to actually go target shooting often enough to make it worth it. A cheap bolt-action .22 would have been a better choice.

I probably won't ever own a gun, not so much because I oppose being able to own them, but because I personally don't feel the need to own one. But I have always liked the M1911. You just can't go wrong with that thing. Pure, American badass right there.

I can't own guns any up here.

I can't even carry pepper spray up here unless I carry it under the pretense that I'm protecting myself from roving urban bears.

While the novelty of owning a gun and the potential empowerment it might bring me would be satisfying in the short term I can not justify such an investment in an item that would go mostly unused unless things become really, really shitty.

I would have to take time out of my day to do things with it to justify its purchase and spend more money doing so to perform a function that is, by its nature, 100% repetitive. It does not give me the image of a sound entertainment investment.

I am happy people with liking guns, I just hope they can like their guns over there.

As for the first one I purchased it would be my M1895 Nagant revolver, which shoots alright but ammo id s psin in the aass to find/is expensive. It is chambered in 7.62x38R Nagant, which is an interesting little round as the jacket extends past the vbullet and the revolver pushes that crimp into the barrel to create a gas seal
As for the first gun I ever owned it would be my 1895 Winchester lever action carbine. It is an absolutely beautiful shooting rifle and I can hit small targets at 100 yards with it.

I've been looking into this, actually. However, my current state of living in a college dorm means I can't til I move til an apartment, I really want to get one. Prolly a 10/22 followed by a Mosin Nagant since both are cheap as hell.

If you deem it necessary for your self defense, carry Wasp Spray if you need to bypass that law. You may face charges for using it on an attacker depending on how asinine your local government is, but then again so will pepper spray. Again, it's up to you, I don't suggest carrying it if you feel it may cause unforeseen consequences.

My first gun I ever owned was a 12 gauge Remington Wingmaster. The first gun I ever bought for myself was a .50AE Desert Eagle. After that I bought several others that were better buys. My most recent purchase was a Desert Eagle 1911 Government. I own 5 handguns, 1 shotgun, and 7 rifles.

Never owned a gun but I did shoot my dads guns alot. Out of all of them I liked my grandpa's 22 rifle. I always liked the 22s over the other guns because it had no kick and I was always allowed to use as much 22 ammo as I wanted, while everything else I only got to shoot about 10 rounds because everyone wanted a turn with the big guns and ammo was limited.

We can use Bear Spray, which is why I mentioned "roving urban bears". I think it's more powerful than wasp spray.

Of course, there's no law against me carrying chili powder dissolved in acetic acid in a spray bottle, so there's always a way around everything.

First gun I bought was a CZ75B. Fantastic pistol, I absolutely love it. It's accurate as hell and has the best ergonomics of any handgun I've ever used. Everyone of my friends who have tried it have wanted one.

Second gun I bought was a Ruger 10/22, mostly just for plinking.

I'm probably going to get a shotgun next (probably a Remington 870), and maybe a .357 magnum (either Smith and Wesson or Ruger) and if I ever get a concealed carry permit I'll get myself a CZ75 P01.

Well my first gun was the one issued to me last year:

SAR-21. Pretty light due to it having plastic parts. Doesn't break easily though.

Out of curiouisity, why that? Seems an odd choice.
Honestly it was because I had more money than sense. It's a fun gun, but that's about it. I had inherited several revolvers and wanted my first pistol to be something that was as visually stunning and made as big of a bang as they did. My second pistol purchase was a Glock 17. That was a much better buy. I recently traded in my Glock for a 1911. That is really what I should have started with.

Will still have to wait a week or so for the license, but I bought my first gun last week; a Weatherby Mark V in 30-06, which I will top with a Swarovski Habicht Nova 4x32 scope. Soon to invest in handloading equipment and never leave my house again...

I know Right. Silly gun owners spending lots of money and taking time out of the day for a repetitive hobby are so silly, unlike us gamers who spends lots of money and take time out of the day for a... oh. (nothing personal, I just couldn't resist, the joke was to easy)

OT: Don't have a gun yet but I plan to get one for the purpose of hunting (as I love venison and it seems like it would be satisfying to eat something you went out and worked hard for)So I know that my first gun will be a rifle that is rugged enough to handle the woods and a high enough caliber to hunt dear effectively, other than that I'm not really sure. Any suggestions?
