So is this gonna be explaining how Master Chief got to be Master Chief or is this an entirely new main character?
That would be a cool side story to the game, but I would hope that isnt it's only plotline. I would hope it isnt an RPG but something more along the lines of Rainbow Six. Albeit Star Wars already tried that and failed, maybe Bungie will succeed.

my prediction is it won't be like ODST because this is the last game in the series and hopefully Bungie will put in a lot of content with a lot of replay value. We'll most likely see the rise of the elites and i think there is supposed to be another covenant species but not necessarily an aggressive species. and hopefully like in the book, in the beginning of the game they will have a boot camp or training session as master chief if he is the main character. But what im definately hoping for is that they will include different classes of Spartans idk if that will make or break the franchise but I think it would be awesome. adn sorry for the long post

John-117 "Master Chief" wasn't on Reach during the final assault. It is possible in the early parts of the game he may make a cameo, but he was offworld with three others when the Covies glassed the planet. My guess is you play someone else.

As to the trailer, awesome but inaccurate. The Mjolnir armor was in short supply, not every Spartan even got one, and those that did had all the same model.

Trying not to get my hopes up for this game though. Bungie/Microsoft have shafted the PC market too often, and I doubt we'll see Reach on the PC. If we do, it will probably, again, be Vista required. In my world, Halo: Combat Evolved was a single-title series with five bitchin' novels.
I never really got into the Halo universe, so when you say the covenant 'glassed the planet', do you mean they destroyed the planet or just butchered it's inhabitants and conquered it.

Because if the world wasn't destroyed outright than this could be a way to lead into a spinn-off series about a resistance by surviving spartans on Reach.

Using past-tense to talk about something in the past... You'll have to excuse me if I don't understand how you think your argument has solid footing. Republic Commando WAS awesome when it came out, but WASN'T overly successful commercially. Much like Psychonauts: a game that WAS awesome but WASN'T a smash-hit.

Well glassing pretty much refers to bombarding the entire planet with plasma, the heat of which turns sand/earth into glass. As to Reach's fate, according to canon
Reach isn't fully glassed by the Covenant because they're searching for a Forerunner artifact on it, which results in some of the SPARTAN-IIs on the planet surviving until they're rescued by Master Chief and a few stragglers from Halo including Sgt. Johnson by way of a hijacked Covenant vessel.

Really though as much as I like Halo (I don't consider it the best thing ever but I think it's pretty good), I'd rather they had gone forward in the timeline rather than back seeing as how they end Halo 3 on a cliffhanger.

I'm definetly intrigued, even though I get the funny feeling this marks the end of being able to play as an elite in Multiplayer (in which case for multiplayer I'll stick with Halo 3 for Multiplayer), it certainly looks like it's going in the right direction. More of a focus on team work and of course playing Co-op with an AI Spartan should be quite fun.

Not wanting to seem pedantic, but does the use of 'Falls 2010' not seem to refer to the Fall of Reach rather than a season of release? Reach Falls in 2010? Other than that, squad based FPS? I doubt Bungie'd try another Halo Wars, and ODST did squad combat with reasonable competency, as well as introducing character specialities and throwing us the All Rounder with segments of special classes... And what with older sorts of armour (I'm a Halo player, but not really a follower, couldn't name the armour class) I'm expecting an ODST style Spartan squad affair. Suppose we'll have to wait and see. Damn them...
