Okay I wanted to make this thread kind of a follow up to my FF13 thread because I got some very negative feedback on that one. Now I was going to get to why I called this "First Impressions Count" later on, but first I would like to explain, and well, try to excuse my statements in the original topic. I never meant this to change anyones mind, if you like the Final Fantasy series then I don't have a problem with that. I simply wanted, in the former thread, to express my feelings towards the E3 coverage of the combat system, and how it had let me down. I really thought that they would have done something more with real time than they did, and I feel that it would have made the combat ,in my opinion, at least decent this time around. However if that is what the fans like then that is what they like.

My second clarification for what I said in the FF13 "rant" as some people have called that. Actually they would be correct on that because that was what it was supposed to be, but to get back to the clarifications. One thing that I got a lot of is that there are different genre's to games and just because this genre isn't my thing doesn't mean I can rag on it. First thing, I realize that there are different genres. I also realize that there is actually a good reason for this, because if there weren't everything would be shovelware, and everything would be terrible. Now I know a guy, he really dislikes Japanese horror movies because to him they're just too weird. Now does the fact that that is what the Japanese horror genre (or actually it is more of a subgenre I think) is good at diminish his opinion? I don't think so. Does the fact that this genre may not be his thing, while a lot of other people like it mean that he should not openly voice this opinion? I don't see how it could. So why, when I make a forum on here saying that I was not impressed by what Square Enix showed at E3, do I get called out as the bad guy (aside from fanboy jackholes)? I do understand that maybe what I said was a bit harsh, in my previous thread that is,but I was trying to be funny. Obviously that didn't work so well.

Now to get to why I called this thread "First Impressions Count". There was something about one of the comments on that last thread that really got me. More than people telling me about how this isn't the only genre, or that I don't have to play the game (which I do realize by the way). No, the one thing that just really astonished me, to be frank. What this person said is that I am not allowed to make a judgement on whether or not I like the game based on a first impression, that is what they said, and my first thoughts were... WHEN THE FUCK... did this get to be the case? Now I don't know if this person is just some kind of fantard (which I could be lenient about considering that they are all morons) or if this guy seriously believes this. However, if that is the case then listen to fucking this: every major decision in life is made on the basis of first impressions, getting a job, making a friend, getting a date (and those two are important, after all, person to person interaction is a pretty god dammed major part of life), getting funding for a project like the ones that these developers are doing all the damn time. So if the application of a first impression to the judgement of the quality of something is good enough for all these important things, why in the hell can I not use them to draw a conclusion as to wether or not I would personally like the game?!
