So, I just got a bunch-a new games, and today I managed to get through about 20 minutes of each of four new games. Well, they're new to my collection, anyway - I know that two were released in '09, and one in '07... *ahem* Anyway, I was thinking:

If you've bought any new games recently, or your can remember your first impression of a certain game and whether it was right or not, why not share some stories about it?

-Metroid Prime Trilogy: I decided to start with the first one, and play through them in order. Although the camera takes getting used to, it looks and feels awesome, and the gameplay is solid enough. I've also managed to get slightly lost already...
-The World Ends With You: Interesting battle system, awesome soundtrack (although I can't make out the lyrics) and the graphics...I like the way it looks, but I can't put my finger on why. Probably going to play this a lot.
-Lego Harry Potter: It's a Lego game by Traveler's Tales: from a gameplay standpoint, when you've played one, you've played 'em all. Here's the thing, though: this one's just different enough to interest me more than Pirates did. Oh, and the cutscenes are still amusing.
-Knights in the Nightmare: The OST came free on a CD with the game. Fun. Also, the genre-fusion is executed well. I haven't even gotten to the story mode yet; I just played through the tutorials. I have a good feeling about this one already.

Captcha: 'the ighendi' Another good Inglip one. Pity I can't be arsed capping and posting it.

As soon as the main menu came up in Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction I knew I was going to like the game, the opening music is just so epic! Plus reading the very detailed game manual (remember those?) gave a good idea of the storyline and characters and made me want to play the game even more.

Then there is the actual game, not only were the opening brief and montage that introduce the story really well done, but the part whe you're in the C-17 was fantastic and one of my favourote openings of all time. The conversations between Fiona and the mercenary introduce their personalities and what kind of person they are. Plus the whole feel and sound of being inside the cargo bay just felt so good, I really don't know how to explain it.
