My phone fell off a ladder at work. The back came off and the battery came out but once I put those back in it works fine without a scratch on it. Put that in the news, this guy dropped it from a few feed and it has a scratch, mine falls off a ladder and is fine.

I don't know which aspect of this is more hilariously depressing.

* That some dimwit dropping his iPhone is news worthy, internationally.

* That the launch of a rehashed product with a higher number at the end is worthy of a live news broadcast.

* Or that dumb-fucks are still lining up over night, or even days prior, to buy a phone.

A phone. A PHONE.

Fuck's sake...

People lining up and waiting overnight to buy overpriced and overhyped electronics? How sad.

How is destiny and the sims 4 by the way?

To be fair to him, it looked less like he was a butter-fingered fool, and more he was struggling with a box that refused to open, and when it finally gave way, the phone predictably went flying.

Not so uncommon occurrence, I would think.

At least this forum is above starting the whole "hurr durr, Android is better just because" thing. Seriously, it's like HD DVD vs. Blu-Ray. We all know that the more popular one will win so why keep putting on the game show?

That aside, Myself being a resident of Perth I am genuinely surprised that this went international. I can understand it making the local news bulletin, everyone forgets we exist most of the time so nothing really happens. But this story making international news is just so stupid. People drop those things every damn day

Didn't Apple tout that the new screen was impervious to this kind of damage?
Actually, I think Zulu nailed the only important part of this thing.

Here. News. [http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2685143/Will-Apples-iPhone-6-indestructable-display-New-video-shows-sapphire-screen-bent-cut-gouged-keys-emerging-unscathed.html]

So, are we being lied to by the Daily Mail? Was it a paid advertisement that Apple made? Or Did Apple trot out one perfect phone that actually stood up to this treatment?

The link shows an animated gif of a man running a tip of a knife over it and then stabbing the screen. It was supposed to come out fine. Is gravity the only downside to Apple's new miracle screen?
This question is hilarious. I mean, it's the DM....

I mean, it's absolutely true because I read it in the Daily Mail. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eBT6OSr1TI]

I probably would have bought it if it had a sapphire screen. Sadly, it was all nonsense.

That's not the same thing in the slightest.

Why is the iPhone 6 launch being broadcast on TV? It's a fuckin' phone!
In their defense, Perth is kind of isolated from the rest of the world, geographically. Anything can be news.

That is correct.
Perth is the arse end of the Earth!

Not only is it far from other civilization, but everything is expensive, and nothing ever goes on.
... no wonder I want to move.

As somebody who lives in Perth, this is completely true.

You should move to Perth anyway, because the weather is beautiful here and the beaches are fantastic. It's where I'd want to spend my final days.

Can somebody tell me why this would be news? This is not even remotely entertaining, I just don't get it.

I wouldn't blame the man too much, I hate air tight sort of lids especially when he was standing up to open it!
