what is the most unfair level one in gaming history?

my vote is zombie smashers X2

im serious, its awful.

it goes like this: explore a bit trying to save this girl or whatever.
now, you go into this alley and boom, you have to play a zombie "combat b-ball".
sounds nice? hes roughly seven times stronger than you...

BLAAAAAAARGGHHH. seriously, jesus christ... if i could at least RUN it would a fair fight, (somewhat), but he can run, and you (or at least, I cant for some reason) cant fucking run...

and heres the real kick to the balls: survival crisis z sounds like a similiar name, that 'cause its the same guy who made it.

i consider survival crisis z to be the ONE, truly FLAWLESS game. i love it.

you can see my let down...

anyway... can anyone top this massive bullshit of an opening area?

Final Fantasy II, the very first fight you get one hit by every enemy. Such bullshit.

The first "real" level of Hitman 2 pretty much dunks you face first into all the hardest things about the game.

The first level of Halo 1. I keep dying on that part where you don't get a weapon for a while. And then when I do, those bridge crew guys I'm supposed to kill keep overpowering me.

Yeah, but that's one of those lame "supposed to lose" things.

Anyway, my biggest pain in the ass is the first level of Halo 2 on Legendary. Most of the LAST level is easier!

I don't know about first level, but I was pretty frustrated by the second level of Ace Combat 6. You have to defend an airport from waves of long range bombers, but my TV is so small I couldn't see the indicators on the radar showing where the bombers were coming from, and I lost many times.

Many, many years ago I borrowed Resident Evil 2 from a friend. Maybe it was because I was only about 15, or maybe it was because I was having trouble with the control scheme but I couldn't get past about the third screen without being pulled apart by zombies. I gave it back to my mate pretty quickly...

Ninety nine nights. It's the easiest level in the game, giving you the delusion that this game is possible. It's just not, which makes the first level evil in my opinion.

Also, Ninja Gaiden. That is NOT what you expect from a tutorial level.
This, doubtlessly.

NG's first level unfortunately turned me off on it entirely.

I barely made it through the fortress, gasping for air and choking down bottles of gatorade, only to be further brutalized by that truck of a boss and his absolutely sluggish HP bar. Once I finally came out on top and watched the two hug it out, I called it a victory, imagined a credits sequence, and turned my delightful gamecube back on.

Super Mario Bros. 2 when I was a young lad.

Because I didn't know you could jump on Birdo's eggs.

Not sure about first levels, but the third stage of Valkyrie Profile on the DS, trying to go through without using the plume, is essentially impossible. One of those everybody can one-hit you kind of deals, but not in a "you're supposed to lose" kind of way. You can use the plume and kill them before they kill you, but if you want the "good" ending you can't use the plume through the game. It's just headdesk-ingly horrible.

Final boss of warhammer: dawn of war 2 chaos rising.

Seriously I fought him for almost 2 hours running around and trying to do any damage while he oneshoted everything. Worst boss fight ever.

On ninja gaiden sigma, there is the big bad boss of the whole game you first meet him on the 1/2nd level were he can one hit you, you are meant to lose it but can be beaten there, I only got him to half health.

I don''t think you get anything for it, except pride and to jar the game.

It wasn't that hard, I did it second time.
