Upon making a google search, this is the 1 image I found that didn't just look like a mockup:

Here, it's at least a clean shave and no shadow of a scalp, unlike the recent Hitman trailer. So take it how you will. If the baldness is an issue with people, then their enjoyment of the movie will largely depend on how the production staff maintain this particular look throughout what I can only imagine will be a 3 1/2 hour movie. Mind you, the movie version of Lex is at a 1/1 ratio for bald/not bald. Gene Hackman? Not bald. Kevin Spacey? Bald.

I'm positive that I've seen that picture before...only in color. I'm really starting to wonder if Batman V Superman isn't going to go all-out Frank Miller on us and just be in black-and-white. As for Eisenburg himself, he looks much too young to be Lex Luthor. He looks more like a bald thug kind of character who Batman would punch in the jaw and then forget about. It just doesn't feel right to me but maybe it'll look better in motion.

THEN WHY EVEN PUT HIM IN THE MOVIE?!

Seriously, what is even the point of using a character's name if you are just going to make your on character anyway?
You do know how many different Luthor's there have been right? and that's just in the comics.

Holy *** ! He actually looks like the head of a corporation on this.

I keep seeing this storyline. He's a young entrepreneur who just manages to be extremely successful. He sees Superman as a threat to humanity and decides to take him out? but gets a little too much into it.

Am I wrong to try and be the optimist in this?

So... It's Eisenberg pulling a Heisenberg?

Other than that, I want to hear him say a quote straight out of Lex Luther himself...

I rather fancy the look. He looks like a Lex Luthor to me. So it's not an image thing. It's just that I've never seen Eisenberg do anything other than play the neurotic Jew. I wonder about his acting ability, not the physique du role.

Which is an ironic choice of words considering here he looks like an extra from Romper Stomper or American History X.

I gotta at least respect that he was willing to go bald, since doing that is a big deal, but he just doesn't look intimidating and any kind of anger will look like a child's tantrum rather than adult rage. I mean he could shock the shit out of me, but I won't be holding my breath.

Oh man he looks adorable.

He doesn't look menacing or ruthless, he looks like a child who got into his dad's clippers and had a bit of an accident with his hair.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

He looks like a drug dealer taking a mug shot.

I don't know anyone who is too excited for Dawn of Justice, but if I did I have a feeling they would be disappointed.

Welcome to the forums and thank you for the list, but all I said was that Eisenberg plays a certain kind of role, not that every Jewish actor does.

I get that they are still trying to do the whole dark and brooding thing with this film, but did they really need to release a black and white headshot of him instead of something more representative of how he will actually look in this film? Because it just looks weird looking at it in black and white.

You need to watch your proper Superman movies again. Hackman's Luthor (the best of course) wears a variety of pretty poor and obvious wigs with his hair changing styles, texture and colour, plus when he and Otis are in the pokey at the end, Luthor is sans wig.

My robe Otis...

Looks bland. I doubt anybody will ever surpass Clancy Brown's animated Luthor in my mind, but this shot is underwhelming and completely devoid of personality. Intensity =/= personality.

And there goes MovieBob's idea of casting The Rock as Lex Luthor...

You are never wrong to try to maintain optimism. Yahtzee's graph about optimism's correlation to suicide notwithstanding, there's never anything wrong with avoiding reflexive and contrived cynicism.

That said, my expectations for this movie remain in the gutter. I like to think that's not reflexive but rather an accurate analysis of the information available and the patterns established by the careers of the creative teams, but even if I'm right about how it will end, you are not wrong to be optimistic, and I just wanted to take this time to thank and congratulate you for it. Carry on being you, Random Argument Man.
