I still don't understand how the two games are meant to interact...
I think one way will be that corporations in Eve put out contracts for planetary claims. Then Dust teams pick and choose the contract, and take on the job. What would be sweet in the beginning is the opportunity for two teams taking on the same job, and winner gets paid.
Later on with further development, I would love to see Eve players getting into the battle themselves, actually ferrying the Dust troops themselves and using frigates for close overhead attack, or carriers or titans for bombardment from orbit. Just the opportunities for the massive battles that could take place (think the final battle of Return of the Jedi, minus the Ewoks), and I have to think of the servers that would cry at the load. Hope CCP is thinking ahead and gonna be prepared.
And I agree, get rid of the micropayment system! Save that for the Richie Rich MMO.

Was I the only one who read the title as "The First Look at the CCCP Game..."

I thought you dug up some lost historical relic.

Qft.

Also, that title is wrong. Dust is supposed to have the same concept as EVE: TotalHellDeath/Usewhatyoucanaffordtolose. Gamers will adapt.

Kill off the commander idea and it could work. If Valve can't make it happen CCP sure as hell won't.
Uh... Wow... Because no other FPS with a commander has existed or done well and clearly Valve is the end-all be-all of game design.

Battlefield, Project Reality, Natural Selection to name a just a few.

Anyway. It does look like it's shaping up quite similar to BF:2142. The High-Mid-low slot customization should add some great depth and strategy to it all.

My largest concern is that 95% of the console FPS market froth at the mouth for run and gun games like Modern Warfare. Just try to imagine your average MW2 player playing anything EVE related at all...

I forsee a lot of people instantly losing interest before CCP works in thier steady stream of improvements they're known for. Although I could be wrong and maybe a bit of persistant world is what these players need to hold thier interest. I personaly love persistance! Which is why I play MMOs and not FPS.

Sounds pretty good, right?
Actually no.

A much better and more experienced company already tried this, and it didn't work. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rXp1cFYq_Y#t=3m0s]

Not saying CCP can't make it work, but I wouldn't put my money on it.
What about Savage and Savage II? For their low budget, they're fun games that satisfactorily combine RTS and FPS gameplay.
Quite honestly, haven't played either so I can't comment... But I have no idea how they might have (if they have) fixed the above issue.
Natural Selection is a Half-Life mod that was widely popular, and the team is now working on Natural Selection II which is a self-funded project. NS combined Strategy and FPS and it worked fantastically.
