Is anyone taking bets on which one of the turtles makes a joke about Shredder over-compensating?
I would say Mikey, because he is the joker, but I have to lean towards Raph making the overcompensation joke.

It looks like he has swiss army knives that have all the little knives and what not flipped out for hands.

Well actually that looks sort of cool. I doubt having large pocketknife-style blades at different angles is the most efficient way to cut, and it is an abhorrent abomination of the character, but as itself it sure does look cool.

Oh look, the BayTrain's making more of a stop to wreck another childhood funtime town. I really dislike the new designs the Turtles have, I dislike the casting of Fox in yet more Bay movies, but I could've looked past it. But honestly, how the hell do you fuck up one of the most iconic character designs? Considering the rest of the TMNT universe, Shredder has nearly the simplest, yet I'd say the most intimidating design in the series. Even if he may as well have been a middle-management mook in the comics, he's THE villain as far as most people are concerned, he deserves slightly more respect than being a rich white man's fetish suit.

I have yet to see/hear anything from this movie that I like. That armor looks ridiculous to me. And its just stupid that Shredder is no longer Japanese. That was a useless change, the chracter could still be "modernized" and made into a businessman while still being Oroku Saki.

My first thought was "It looks like Swiss Miss from the Spiderman musical".

Why was my first thought "It looks like Swiss Miss from the Spiderman musical"?

As a few others said, it reminds me a bit of Super Shreddar. A bit too over to the top for his normal form I think, but perhaps discretion isn't the name of the game.

In this shot, he also looks much taller than usual, could be the perspective.

This Shredder looks like the Silver Samurai crossed with the housewares section of frys.
THAT. Well not quite that, but something similar. I immediately thought of Silver Samurai from the recent Wolverine movie. From what little I do recall of the comics, I remembered SS being just a guy in a metal suit. I could be wrong, but did not foresee a huge mech like suit. It would seem they went the same route with Shredder. There is no possible way a human could wear such a thing. Glowing eyes is another clue that it's not human guy wearing fancy armor.

Man, Edward Scissorhands has really let himself go...
He looks a bit like Edward Scissorhands became a Predator who was caught in a horrendous knife factory explosion. Maybe he's been hunting Xenomorphs all this time?

Edit: Also, of course Shredder is a white guy now. Of course.
Of course he is a white guy, it takes too many resources to cast an asian dude in an asian role!

I was talking about this with a co-worker the other day and he actually said, "Well it's better than making the villain an Asian dude." To which I replied by putting my face on my desk and waiting for him to leave.

Jet Li was the COOLEST thing about Lethal Weapon 4! Remember Big Trouble in Little China? When I was five I didn't want to be Kurt Russell - I wanted to be THE GOD OF F***ING LIGHTNING (in fact I still don't want to be Kurt Russell and I still DO want to be the god of lightning)!

Whether or not the villains are cool will make or break a movie. There is nothing cool about Mr. Generic White Evil Business Man #3486 in a power suit. :(

How the hell is that supposed to be physically intimidating? Unless it accidentally tipped over and fell on you.

Look, I know a character named 'Shredder' isn't going to have the most sophisticated design, but this guy doesn't even look like he can bend his arms. I'm slightly baffled by everyone liking this design. Like, really?!

It feels like they took the name a bit literally, this looks like it was designed by a fourteen year old boy. "And his arms are made of swords! And he has a cape that is swords, too! And his eyes shoot laser swords!"

In a way this has made me more interested to see the film, though, because I really want to know how something that looks like that can move comfortably/realistically.

Even his blades have blades...

I don't know, he seems way too over the top, to the point it stops being threatening and gets silly. He looks like a guy that has nothing to wear but swords, so he covered himself with them. Its the wearable version of the Iron Throne. It could work as a "Super Shredder" version (a 30 seconds version), but I don't think he should look like this during the entire movie.

I am a little concerned about the merchandising (come on, we know its 90% of the reason this movie got greenlighted). That design doesn't look safe for anyone under 21 to handle...

I decided to draw what I imagine will happen the first time Shredder tries to take a step forward in that dumbass suit...

The villain looks cool, which raises my hopes, but then I remember Micheal Bay is directing it...
Actually he isn't, it's the brilliant director who gave us masterpieces such as Wrath of Titans and Battle L.A... So it's probably not going to end well, but probably slightly better than if Bay was responsible.

I don't particularly like the design, but i could imagine it would go over well with kids, it's Defineately prepostorous enough to have been designed by a 12 year old.
