considering how many sex scenes were in the book to begin with, they can hardly screw it up.
i didn't see any captions on the pictures there, so i'm just guessing that the blonde girl in the tribal-looking garb is Dany? not quite how i pictured her, but i'll reserve judgement until i see the series.
*edit* nevermind, now i see there are mouse-over captions. at least i guessed correctly...
*second edit* holy crap, Lena Headey looks much better as Cersei than i thought she would! i knew she had the acting chops for the role, but wasn't sure about her appearance. i'm sold, now.
This George Martin, you bastard. I paid for my pre-order 3 years ago, and you keep setting the date back while you freaking HOLIDAY. You made a commitment to your readers when you began the series, and you've made several commitments in terms of publication dates but you haven't kept them.

Yeah, Jon Snow looks horrible. Looks like a real villain. Actually no, a young Inigo Montoya. "Hello, my name is Jon Show. You killed my father, Eddard Stark. Prepare to die."

I'm still not sold on this one. I really like Headey as an actress and have probably watched more of her films than is healthy or natural, but the long blond hair looks really weird with her facial structure. Not what I had in mind for Cersei at all, really.
For the rest, it's all meh - acceptable. Robert looks a bit too old, Boromir as Ned is obvious but a little boring, the actress playing Catelyn looks dull, and Daenerys looks like a Xena extra. Personally, I want to know who gets to play Brienne. That should be fun.
The one actor here who really knocks it out of the park is the guy playing Jaime. That way exceeded my expectations.
HBO? Check.
Not set in the present or the real world? Check.
Canceled in one or two seasons? Check.
I appreciate the fact that HBO takes chances, but the end result is always the same. One or two seasons in, they aren't seeing the kind of return on investment they expected from all of the expenses associated with period/fantasy production, so they pull the plug.
I love the books (just started the third one), so I'll definitely watch it.
I like to call Sean Bean "Seen Been" or "Shawn Bonn" because of the way his name is spelt. His parents couldn't have been lazier, taking their last name and changing a single letter.
But I'm really glad they didn't grab Verne Troyer as Tyrion, or that guy from Jackass. That would have ruined it.
Yeah I've been following this production closely, so I'm pretty knowledgeable on the details of the show (or at least as much as someone who is in no way connected to the production outside of being a fan).
OK so I just thought I would create a FAQ for any new members who might have questions about the series.
What is Game of Thrones?
Game of Thrones is an adaption of George RR Martian?s (GRRM) award winning Fantasy series A Song of Ice and Fire. The series will be using the name of the first book (A Game of Thrones) for all the seasons.
Who is adapting it and how is it being adapted?
HBO is adapting it with David Benioff and Dan (D. B.) Weiss (D&D)as the producers. They plan to do on season per book (if it continues to be renewed) with each season being 10 or so episodes.
When will it be coming out?
As far as we know it will be coming out sometime in spring of 2011 most likely March or April.
Who?s playing all my favorite characters?
The best resource for this is the cast page on Winter is Coming, which is the best place to get information on the show. http://winter-is-coming.net/features/cast/
Who is writing it?
The main writers are D&D but other writers are Brian Cogman who s writing episode four, Jane Espenson who is writing episode six, and of course GRRM will be writing episode eight, in fact he will be writing one episode per season if it continues past the first season.
How do we know it won?t go Legend of the Seeker on us?
D&D are both big fans of the books and are working closely with GRRM to make the best possible product they can. We also know that quite a few of the cast member have read the books or are reading the books so I think we can expect a fairly close adaptaion.
How are the Direwolves being handled?
So far as we know for at least the first bit they will be using dog pups; but as the series progresses they will need to figure out what to do when the wolves get bigger.
How will sex be handled int the series?
As far as we know HBO has no problem with it, in fact I would say that they are probably fine with all of it. Remember that they are not marketing this as a children's fantasy show, this is dark, gritty, adult fantasy and they will treat it as such. Also many of the children have been aged up and are being played by actors and actresses who are of age if they are involved in any sexual activity.
Have any trailers been released?
Yes in fact there have been two actual trailers (more teasers than trailers) which have been released along with a Making of video and three interviews with some of the crew who have a hand in designing the world.
Where can I get more information?
The best sources for information is Winter is Coming also Westeros, the main ASoIaF website, and HBO?s Making of Game of Thrones production blog.
