Right, so I just cooked up some Kraft Dinner (Kraft Mac 'n' Cheese for those of you outside of Canada), it was my first time cooking anything and surprisingly, it didn't turn out completely horrible, only a bit undercooked. yaaaay
So, when was the first time you cooked (or baked or magicked food into existence or whatever) and what was it?

I was 8, and it was chocolate chip cookies... well, what was left after I ate most of the batter.

Now, I pretty much am the cook of the family-- not that my wife can't cook (her biscuits are to die for), but just that I enjoy it so much... well, that and I actually went to culinary school for a year...

Seeing as I doubt pizza, burgers or microwave food counts...

My first try was mashed potatoes. Turned out well, just followed the instructions on the back of the pack...okay maybe, that doesn't count.

Lemme see, what can count...Taco?
I made a taco dinner for...3-4 about, 1-2 years back. Turned out surprisingly well. Although I was the only one that didn't think it had an overflow of spices. I ended up putting in more spices, have I mentioned I like spices?

It tasted very nice, didn't burn it or anything. surprised myself there, not even a burn mark on my arm. The kitchen still stood when I was done, untidy, but nothing was broken.

A Hermit's Cave
At 10: Home made noodles... came out waaaaay too soft... but got better. Unfortunately, I've completely forgotten how to make them now... all I remember is my old man complaining about them.

Boiled spagetti and microwaved meatballs...

The spagetti was still a bit hard and the meatballs were cold... could have been worse though I suppose...

Apart from cooking with the parents as a child, probably the first proper meal i made (not a ready meal, a sausage sandwich, whatever...) was a chilli, from scratch, at the age of... 14 or 15, I think, round a friend's house.

It wasn't terrible, it's got to be said. Perfectly good for drunk teens, anyway. Probably wouldn't have returned to it the next day, but we were hungry enough that we ate the whole damn pot that night.

As it is now, after 8 years of being a vegetarian, cooking largely for myself, and being a student for a lot of the time, with certain monetary restrictions, I'm very used to making large, and sometimes complex, meals from scratch. I really enjoy cooking, so long as I have decent knives.

Omelette! When I was 14, I think? ¯\o_O

Turned out better than expected actually. First time trying to use the stove I grabbed a bunch of eggs, some basil, oregano, salt, pepper, pretty much all the essential spices, chopped scallions and squash, olive oil. Stirring was my focus, had to keep my eye on cooking the eggs evenly.

Didn't think it would be up to expectations but it looked and tasted great!
