Calm down, we saw a prealpha version of the basic combat system so it of course looked basic.
And they were fighting what appeared to be some of the weakest enemies in the game.

You didn't need to use tactics to fight rats or ants in the first two Fallout games. Just point and shoot/stab.

Yeah, I suspect this

will provide more of a challenge.

Ah wasteland. That brings back memories. I remember finding a howitzer and playing around with it. Damn thing leveled like two city blocks. I just quickly snuck away that time *whistles innocently*.

I love the concept art for this new title. Game play looks decent so far too. Look forward to seeing more about this.

I hope these guys take a page from the Fallout: Tactics book of how to make an RPG/Tactical game.

I hope they improve on that cover mechanic and line of sight. Nobody has a cone of vision that small.

Looking quite bland at the moment but hopefully combat will look great like Xcom later on down the line.

Still laughing at the YT comments claiming it's the "real Fallout 3" even though Fallout 3 was great and well received anyway.

And here's also hoping it comes with all 3 difficulty modes to let enough people get into the gameplay and enjoy the story at the same time at their own pace.
Fallout 3 was great but very different from Fallout 1 and 2, which were also great games in a different way. So people are making that comment not to denigrate Fallout 3 but to celebrate the return of a type of RPG thought to dead.

Still disappointed.

The much vaunted return of old-school, turn based RPGs, and they serve get some of the most shallow combat I've ever seen in a turn based game.

This makes the new XCOM look like Dwarf Fortress.
You don't know. You saw some early footage. This is why most companies "early footage" is actually late stage beta footage, people will just shit all over a game no matter how early in development the game is.

This game is looking great and I am excited for it.
Equally excited and bloody glad i backed it!

As to bland combat remember this is the first encounter from the game. The fights are likely to be quite simple as most games dont throw you into a complex, confused fight right off the bat. I imagine as the characters level the complexities will stack up
I'm a back as well and really looking forward to this game's release.

Well considering who is behind this game, it is as close as your going to get to a "Real" Fallout 3. I'm not saying Fallout 3 is a bad game, I love it but it is a bad Fallout game.

I thought it looked kind of "close up" for an isometric view. It looked like it would really annoying to look at after a while. And keeping track of what was going on in larger skirmishes would be annoying and frustrating. But perhaps that's just because this is a youtube video. The real deal might be better.

Otherwise I like what I'm seeing so far. If it keeps looking good I might buy it.
