I have noticed that every week, usually for Yahtzee's newest video, and lately for Extra Credits as well, in the discussion forum for the video there are rarely less than five posters put on probation for "first"ing or posting before the video has finished, and therefore cannot claim they have watched it.

Why? I admit I get a small thrill from being among the first few people to post in a new forum, but I feel it's a waste of time to go "First" and then add nothing to the discussion. Has anyone answering this ever been probationed because of your over-zealous appreciation of Yahtzee or any other video? Or are you a "First"er at all?

Also, I'm curious, I'm in the pacific standard time zone, and Yahtzee/Extra Credits/MovieBob goes up every Wednesday/Thursday/Friday (respectively) at 9:00am is this different on the west coast or in the UK? What about the Japanese or Chinese or Korean escapists?

We get it around 5pm (GMT time)in the UK, and I've never first-ed a video or thread on here. I've been tempted a lot though. xD

You look like you have been lurking long enough to understand that these forums use moderation to reinforce behavior as much as to punish. These forums try to stay just a bit more mature then most. That's exactly why they try to reinforce discussion on the videos rather then dumb meme crap.

The videos are posted at the same time worldwide. So yes different times of day around the world, but still the same time.

On the time zone bit.

I'm in the UK and Zero Punctuation comes out at 5 I believe.

Most other things come out at 4 but I know of some stuff that comes out at random other times of the day.

"first"ing is really pointless, I guess its a bit like 'shotgun'ing, etc... just gives people a sense of achievement.

I'm glad that they get suspended on this site, such behaviour is just a nuisance :p

Never done it, never knew why I would it, mainly because there's alway someone ahead of me, so I'll never feel tempted to xD

All of our video series go live at either 9AM or noon EST (GMT -5). Since they are hosted from that time zone, standard time zone adjustments apply as normal. Although Kross may be working on a way to defy general relativity, it has yet to be implemented.

Also, I'm pretty sure the mods think of taking care of 'First'ers as a chore, shaking their heads in concerned disappointment before dropping the hammer. It sucks when it happens, but we just shrug our shoulders because "it's the internet."

Well, I feel good when I make the first post (Which means lots of people will read it and bring the sweet, sweet quotes into my inbox...mmmmm...)
But I'd never say First. Because that's stupid.

I have no idea. I never pay any attention to them anyway; I just skip to the part where the real discussion starts.

I have seen this happen right after I've made a comment on a random thread.
Hahaha. That's hilarious.

OT: No. Never been a real firster, though I find it strange when people spend so much time whining about firsters when they could be adding extra discussion value. I say the same thing for people who post only to say "Report and move on," or inb4 whatever.

I do it as a joke with friends, and I did it once actually. You can see a very stupid me thinking people care because I first commented, favorited, and rated the Spore trailer on Machinima.

As for forums, the place of discussion firsting is kind of a dick move. You add nothing, and it especially is stupid for videos as the comments should be about discussing the videos pros and cons, bringing up your own opinions, or just talking with a kindred spirit about the subject matter.
