I disagree with the use of the fork. It is very hard to get all the lovely crispy bits out of the bottom of the bag using one. Great for hot chips at the top though.

I always find, that if the paper has been arranged in a conical shape, it's easier to just tip the bag to gain access to the crunchy morsals. Not very proper, but damn it! This is chips we're talking about!

You made me laugh, and also have a good point, but getting greasy chip bits down your shirt would not do!

As a Canadian I just have to say that while I have had some really bad fish and chips here, I dare say there are some really good places too: at least there are here in Victoria, BC.

LOL No worries! Awk, if there's a fork handy, I'd use one or if it's making my hands gross! If there was some sort of sauce on them, I'd definitely use a fork though

Chippy Snipy

I live in a village of under 200 people. We have THREE chippys (two of which you can keep down), a Cafe and a pie shop.

Actually here is a list of acceptable things to eat with chips other than fish and how to eat them;



Pie and chips; Eat chips with fork, shovel pie into your mouth with hands

Chips, Gravy and Mushy Peas; the messy man's choice but a rewarding one. Best eaten 4 days later of yout clothes

Chips and Steak Pudding; The thinking mans pie, eddible with a fork and best when punctured over chips

Egg and Chips; Eatching chips before midday but don't want to admit you are having an 11am breakfast? Egga and chips is always there for you.

Scampy and Chips; not in the mood for for pie? Too busy to cut fish? Scampi is your choice!

Chip Butty; Bap, Barm Cake, Bun or just two slices of bread.

West Midlands, the middle of the West Midlands in the middle of nowhere. To be fair to the chap he can push his stuff cheap because the nearest other shop is in town, which is at least a drive away (a 10 minute walk else). That and he's set up smack bang in the middle of a housing estate next to a Chinese, Tanning shop and boozer!
