Who here on the escapist goes fishing?
In this thread you can tell your favorite fishing stories, what you've caught, what you use, basically anything fishing related.

Here's the story behind this. Me and my uncle went fishing for the first time together on a nearby lake. He's been fishing for over 3 decades so he has all the best gear. He saw what I was using and laughed while telling me I'd be lucky to catch anything. The fish you see me holding was the only one we caught and believe me I rubbed that in his face. This was not without embaressment however as when he handed the fish to me I accidentally dropped it in the boat.

Note: The hoodie should say JNCO JEANS on it but my dachshund puppy ripped the N off.

Edit: also the date on the camera is messed up, this is about 2 weeks ago.

Caught a 5 kg (10 lbs) pike with a shovel this summer. Quite entertaining. It was probably half dead to begin with, but I was wading in murky waters, and to be honest, I freaked out at seeing the pike (it's like a crossover between a crocodile and a shark - it eats friggin' birds!) and went mental on it with a shovel.

Why I was wading in murky waters with a shovel in pike territory is a completely different story.

Oh, and fishing is a great hobby. I try to head out once a month or so, usually fishing trout in mountain lakes. Great sport, great food and loads of fun.

I was icefishing once with my dad, brother and a couple buddies, me and my brother were in the tent, we had a couple pike next to our chairs and a fucking MONGOOSE swam up through the hole, snarled at us, grabbed a fish (meanwhile we're screaming and freaking the fuck out) and dived back under

scariest shit ever

It looks like an otter. You had Ice Picks.

Serious shrinkage being so close to ice must have had an affect to be scared of a ballsy otter. (j/k)

I'm an Albertan, and where I'm from we call them "slough sharks"

This was when I was roughly 12-13 and needless to say, A fish theiving mammal was the last thing I expected to infiltrate the tent
