I don't understand why people like to actively hate things. I will go out on a limb and say I hate the US TV show the Jersey Shore. That doesn't mean I watch the show just to criticize it or mock the people out there that for some reason love it. This applies to all forms of entertainment, religion and politics.

Its so annoying to me because it seems like everything is completely polarized. There is only black and white. The majority of people who don't have a strong enough opinion to bother are the more logical group but they don't count.

This came up mostly because of all the hate Bioware is getting lately. I was underwhelmed with Dragon Age 2, but it seems a lot of people just want to knock the company. I don't understand why those people are so vehemently set on convincing everyone they are horrible.

So basically I wonder, why go through the work? I understand joking around or constructive criticism but what sparks you to put yourself through something you don't like just to rag about later?

Person A has a belief.

Person B disagrees.

Neither person wants to be proved wrong, in a medium like an internet message board which will be visible months, years, even decades later. They keep arguing until someone gives up.

Once you realise that it's only a matter of escalation.

I have stopped caring what other people think, because I'm always right.

Because people like to feel superior, or they just have that natural gene in them that makes them want to act like a complete and total dick to someone else.
