I finally watched Fight Club for the first time last week.

Holy crap was it good. And I can't believe I avoided the massive plot twist.
I remember the first time I saw Fight Club. I was mind fucked at the end.

It's great, isn't it? Possibly the Coen Brother's best, although I still think Blood Simple is slightly better.

As for mine, Cube. I recently watched it, and it was probably one of the tensest experiences of my life. Never has a film managed to capture the feeling of claustrophobia so well.

I'd recommend it. The second is good too. The third, not so much.
Oh god, I watched one of the Cube films at a friends house once. Cant remember which one sorry, I was too blazed. What I do remember of it was awesome though :D

OT: Well the most recent one happened to me today in Mafia 2.

In the bit when:
Vito and Joe go to meet their pal Henry Tomasino at the Lincon park about the dope deal, ony to be greeted by screaming. As they run around the corner they see Henry writhing and howling on the ground, surrounded by half a dozen Triad members hacking, stabbing and slashing at his stricken body with cleavers.

Jesus fucking Christ that hit me like a ton of bricks. I just didnt see it coming and the sheer violence of it is shocking.

Edited for retarded typo's

The ending to The Mist. That ending can pretty much go eff itself. There is a limit.
Yes, it most certainly can fuck itself. Up the bum.

But no, I think I felt physically ill at the end of One flew over the Cuckoos Nest. In a good way though.

Glad to see someone else who liked that movie.

I recommended it to Pararaptor a while ago and he hated it....

The Talented Mr Ripley. Good god that film is a brilliant thriller about murder and deception...

I would say which scene I thought was the greatest depiction of that act I've ever seen, but I don't know how to do spoiler tags so I'll hope anyone that's seen it can just figure it out...

Sounds like an odd sort of film.

OT: Well, me and my girlfriend are both writing a short story based around the same characters, just to see what the other comes up with, and I find that coming up with scenes is most easily achieved by listening to music. Which means that when I listened to Melancholy Hill by Gorillaz I nearly came to tears. If I made that film, it'd be fucking brilliant.

"The Eighth Day", it's a foreign film with a mentally-defective character we become attached to, of course he dies in an absurdly sad way at the end, still crushed me.

I kinda stopped feeling emotions very well around twelve years old and I saw this before that point, Don't really get sad anymore.

'Children of Men' really moved me. God, I was really upset when _______ _____ was ______, or at the _______ when you found out _____ were actually a bunch of _________ wankers, or at the end. Fantastic ending. Dark and glib while still managing hope.

In a bad way?
In a way that made me think that life was cruel, unjust and full of demented sickos. But I loved the film, it's awesome.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Now words can truly describe it, you must see it yourself to fully understand it. I still have no clear idea of what I watched

Pan's Labyrinth, and to a lesser extent, Martyrs. The latter just made me incredibly depressed for days though.

So I finally got around to watching No Country For Old Men, and holy shit. I feel like I've been punched in the stomach. I don't think I've ever used those words to compliment a film before.

Anyone else have an experience with a film or game that just... floors you?

[small]I'd give more to discuss but I don't want to ruin it, and my brain is still reeling from all that...[/small]
if that film got to you it suggests we have similar tastes, so go out and buy Touching the Void (2003). seriously. go to amazon now and buy it.

oh and definitely look at The Greatest (2008) with Pierce Brosnan.

I think I just sat still for a few minutes after watching American Beauty. Digesting what happened was just quite difficult. It's weird, because it's about a crappy life in the suburbs, but it had the feeling of one of those movies that you describe, OP.

Oh! Blood Diamond was the most recent. Damn, I was almost in tears by the end of it. It was depressing, and hardly in a good way, considering the movie is based in truth.

And also Catch me If You Can was really really good. And Shutter Island. (I'm on a Leonardo Kick right now, can you tell?)

This isn't from a movie or game. Surprisingly, It's from youtube and it's one of the most gut-wrenching things I've ever watched.
It's a story from an American soldier who fought at the Battle of the Bulge.

I thought No Country for Old Men was horrible. I didn't even know what happened in the end. At all.
Maybe I should re watch it.
Right now I just cannot think of a movie. I don't know why though, I should know a few, I feel like I knew a few. But its not coming to me.
