With the holidays coming, I was thinking about a few ex-gf's and the food that they made for me during this time of year.

One gf that I had used to make the best mashed potatoes I've ever had. It took her around two hours to make them, and after she was done, she would present me with a giant bowl with butter, chives and my favorite mix of salt and pepper.

Another gf used to make absolutely dynamite peanut butter cookies. She would make them from scratch, and they always came out perfectly. The funny side of this was that the cookies were the only thing that she could make...this woman would screw up a bowl of cereal, and yet, the cookies were the best.

Now Escapists', I'm curious, what are some foods, baked goods or special treats that an ex-gf, ex-bf, deceased mother/father/grandparent, or anyone else who's no longer in your life, that you miss the most?

Initial assumption of what this thread was about said:
Well, there's the existential fact that fast prepare-fast-and-cheap food is actually slower, less healthy and more expensive than traditional cooking for specific meals, but I'll go with what Pistolgunman says.
I miss Monster Cookies my mom used to make, with smarties and big chunks of chocolate.

Most of the food I miss is just stuff I've given up in pursuit of a healthier diet.

There used to be this Italian resturant in a mall nearby who's stores can't stay open for more then a month. It was really good, but the mall just sucks.

My Mom's Spaghetti a la Carbonara. It is easily the most delicious meal ever created and it has bacon. If anyone wants the recipe just PM me.

What's with all the threads relating to girl-/boyfriends, ex or otherwise, all of a sudden? Makes a person feel terrible for their obvious failures.

On topic: Twinkies. I have not seen a Twinkie in the store or in a cabinet at someone's house for years.

Street Tacos. Oh god how I miss street tacos. Back in California, they were everywhere and they were the most delicious heart attacks in the world! Now I couldn't find them if my life depended on it.

Beef stroganoff. My mom makes the best beef strognaoff I have every tasted, and it is my favorite food.

I've honestly started to salivate more now that I'm thinking about it.

*sigh* I've given up pop and candy because one of my teeth broke a few weeks ago.

I had a girlfriend that had an apple tree in her back yard. Just so she had a way to get rid of all the apples she would pick them when they were ripe and then use them to make the most amazing apple pies.

A vegemite sandwich.

I can't get them around here.
What's a vegemite sandwich???
It's Aussie food.
Care to elaborate? I'm intrigued as to the origins and ingredients of so-called "vegemite sandwich"???

I was actually just curious as to what foods you used to have that you can no longer have due to the circumstances: whether it be because your ex-gf left you, your parents/grandparents died, restaurant closed, you've moved to a new location, etc, etc...

Cafeteria food is supposed to be disgusting, but I really miss Crispitos. They were little deep fried tacos that were AMAZING. Totally worth the high child hood obesity rate in the States...
