Maine Road as well... *sniff sniff*

By the way has there been a petition to remove your MJ statue yet? Or has some public spirited person done the honorable thing and bulldozed it?
Oh yeah, you must've started sobbing when they set about demolishing that stadium. It was a rather... cosy ground (for lack of a better way of putting it).

And no, that statue is still there, and until now, I had blissfully forgotten about it (albeit for not very long). To be fair, I haven't been to the Cottage in a while (I missed the first leg of the Europa qualifier, which was a bit of a bummer), though a few of my fellow Cottagers have (in their rather macabre way) considered dressing it/him/whatever in a semtex jacket... *hrk*

Well, al-Fayed's done well by Fulham and most fans forgive his eccentricities (however cringeworthy they may be...).

Footy? That's an accepted term for football/soccer? Alright, I guess...

I generally loathe team sports... but I've made one exception. I'm a small-time supporter of my local FC [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=068FEa5VqF4]. Certainly not on the level that some people around here are, though.

I'm American, and I love footy. I can't watch American football. It just seems like a rugby ripoff.

For real? Source? As far as I knew it was all speculation so far.
BBC's Transfer Gossip Column [http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/gossip_and_transfers/9533928.stm] so it's not the most reliable... but apparently, the Italians believe it... for what it's worth. =P

Hmm, and apparently we're going after Aguero and Eto'o as well according to the daily fail. Gota love this time of year.

I would doubt it. you're literally taking the most popular sport int he world (dont get too high and mighty about that. its only cause you just need a ball, so its cheap, hence why you see those third world countries in the sport more so then others like Cricket, or Hockey, or baseball, or etc.) and one of the more popular hobbies in the world and combining them.

Now myself personally? I cant stand soccer. Not cause I'm American, but cause its incredibly dull and boring (to me). Youre telling me you can run back and forth across a field for 2-3 hours and end in a 0-0 tie and everyone is supposed to be excited? No thank you.

I'm more of an (american) football fan, but thats cause I'm good at it. But I'm even more of a Hockey fan, and thats cause i'm REALLY good at it. But I'm also an avid gamer. So I'd say the combining interests of Hockey/(American) Football/Videogames makes it more rare then Soccer/Videogames.

I'm into football. Well, I'm only interested in one team and that's Brighton & Hove Albion. The Premier League can do a running jump.

Having said that, I hate the word footy. Passionately. I don't know why, it just really bothers me. I hate most words people put a y on the end of to be playful though.

I'm a big fan of both football and gaming, it doesn't seem the uncommon.

My team is Dundee United in the SPL which gets an undeserved bad reputation, but I like to follow football more generally as well, especially the EPL, but I don't particularly have a favourite team (my mate is a Wolves fan though so I like to see them do well)

Interesting fact about Dundee United: Only team to have a 100% record against Barcelona in competitive matches :D

You've probably already said, but what team to you support?
Also yup, I doubt we're as rare as people think we are haha ^_^.

I myself am a Spurs fan. Next season should be a cracker if we actually bloody buy someone...
What a Pleasant coincidence! I'm a Spurs fan to! yeah i think we've got that damiao signed and were gunning for Pablo Osvaldo an Scott Parker, but of course there's the small matter of holding on to bale and modric, if we hold on to them and sign some quality strikers we could definitely make a dent next season. wot u think?

Translation for non-football and video game fans: I too enjoy locking myself in my room being anti-social and wasting my life in front of a screen except for when I leave the house to go and see a bunch of overpaid, talentless idiots.

Funnily enough I support a non-league club, (Luton Town) I was watching them on tv once and my housemate came in and said 'bunch of overpaid divers' and left...non-league players don't get paid quite that much. And diving really isn't that frequent.
Luton's in the blue square premier with wrexham aren't they, i'm a spurs an by nature but i live close to wrexham an seen ur boys ply a few times an i can safely say that your housemates wrong lol are they even full time?

Yep, Blue Square unfortunately, was Championship a few seasons ago (thanks bad management and people screwing the club over!) My housemate knew nothing about football except for what he hears from other football haters. Hopefully back in the league this season! :D

The record isn't likely to go anywhere soon to be honest, it's not like we're going to be qualifying for the Champions League any time soon :p

OH HEY THERE:D awesome!

Ugh it'd be wicked if we could; dunno if it's gonna go through though:/.
Couldn't care less about Parker, our midfield is strong as it is.
What we need is another quality defender to cover for old man Gallas and provide more diversity, and someone who can really support Pav and score goals. Then again, hoping Van der Vaart maintains his start of season form, if we get another striker in that can suit him well, I think we have a great chance of scoring loads of goals.

As far as Modric is concerned...mmh, I hope Levy is as serious about keeping him as I hope he is and as much as he makes out he is.
I seriously doubt Bale's going this summer; I heard on the grape vine that Barca are lining up a £45million bid for him next summer, if he maintains his form.

...which is troubling.
In short, if we don't get into the CL next season, we're gonna have a mass exodus:/ do not want.

Also, check this site out http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/news_papers.html
Keeps up all the transfer goss:].

Heh, at the moment I'm probably more into Football than I am to gaming.

Having said that, it's UNBELIEVABLY frustrating and soul-destroying to be an Arsenal fan right now, which I am.

Thought I'd switch the Avatar to the Verminator because he's an absolute Legend.
Would've won that cup final if he'd been fit.

Pretty sure my avatar says it all. I do know what you mean though. Seems to me that quite a few people are either really into sports but not very much into gaming or the other way around.

Is it just me or ar Arsenal starting to leak their players away? Clichy to City, Fabregas might be going and so might Nasri.

Should be a good season.
It does seem that way unfortunately. It's a shame about clichy because i actually liked him and thought he was a good player, as well as being quite loyal to the club. I would actually like Fabregas to go because he really isn't that passionate about the club anymore, and he has done so much for us that i'd like him to go where he wants, not to mention we would get a fair bit of money. Am hoping so much for Nasri to stay at Arsenal, he's been my favourite player ever since his debut. Also, i'm still waiting on Wenger to get a CB, but i'll keep my faith that he will do the right thing and hopefully we will soon be back on top.

Football can produce some decent games, Liverpool vs AC Milan a few years ago was a pretty damn good one (Liverpool down 0-3 at half time claw back to 3-3 in the second half and then win on penalties) but it's a rare exception in my experience.

The footballers themselves are overpaid, many of them are less interested in the game than they are about the extras that come with it (Money, chicks etc) and are paid an extortionate amount of money for what they do. Of course, they only get so much because enough people pay to watch them but it still makes me feel uneasy to know they earn in a week of kicking a leather ball around what a nurse, who is entrusted to take care of you in hospital when you're at your most vulnerable and helpless, makes in an entire year.

For the most part however, football just isn't usually an interesting enough spectator activity for me because it's rarely interesting to watch. Snooker is a good slow paced game that's essentially a geometry and logic puzzle, with the competitive aspect of dicking over the other player when you know your turn won't continue. It's slow paced enough to allow for thinking on the observer's part and see how it matches up to the players (Who have the skill to not fudge up the shots like I do when I play).

On the opposite end, you've got Table Tennis. Top level Table Tennis is as frantic, fast paced and balls-to-the-walls intense as it gets, especially when they stop hitting long volleys. It's one of the few olympic events i'll make a note to record and watch.

Coupled with a growing E-sport scene like Starcraft 2, there's just so much more stuff that I find better to watch people play than Football/Soccer.
