Today is a mission for advice. I?ve recently been accepted to Full Sail University, for the Masters in Entertainment Business program. My intent is to use what I learn to pursue a career in public relations for video games. My admissions counselors assured me that this is a good step to take since this is a major career change for me. I?ve been involved in hospitality my entire life and I want to be sure I?m taking the right steps to my ideal career.

I want to be part of the movement that creates a far more positive image of video games than what is displayed today. I would gladly get involved with the public relations department for the right company, working with the advertisement team about how a game should be displayed to the public. Consider the branding image of a company. Or working with the grass roots committee about what games will get the ?green light? for production, or even distribution. I?m very open about the area of business I want to get involved in but I?m very lost on what I should be looking for. Studios vs. Publishers? Retail Stores vs. Game companies?

Any advice on the topic would be greatly appreciated from anyone with knowledge in the industry.

I applaud your mission and would be happy to provide some input. Congratulations on being accepted to graduate school! When are you starting at Full Sail?

I am responsible for the Entertainment Business Master of Science degree program, and I would be happy to speak with you about it in more detail. If you can email me at [email protected] and give me a phone number, I'll give you a call and answer any questions you may have.
