Not sure if this is where it should be, it is gaming related but could fall into off topic too.

So everyone has their names for particular fanboys/users of a certain console or PC rig. But as I have now attained an Xbox One for Christmas I was wondering; what would you call someone who has all three next gen consoles AND a gaming PC rig?

Surely it would be something likened to god mode?

I've heard Idort, but it doesn't seem there is a widely used/known word/phrase for it. Always good to see other such fellow games, not a huge amount of us around as I'm sure you've gathered.

Someone with impulse purchase issues? Omni Fanboy/Fangirl? I'm thinking of an offensive one that sounds similar to "rich mellon farmer" or "rich monkey feathers."

A game critic? It makes sense for us to buy multiple systems. More systems = more work = a better chance at a decent income.

Though to be honest, I'm sure I would own only slightly fewer systems if I didn't use my work as an excuse. I do try to get good deals, though. Maybe buy some systems used. And I never buy at launch unless I'm certain I'll be able to earn my money back within a few months. Oh, and my laptop is nowhere near a real gaming rig. It runs stuff like The Banner Saga, and that's enough for me.

So, demi-god at best.

A gamer. Simple as.

Why some people think its a crime to own several different branded consoles and/or a gaming PC as well is beyond me.

Lucky and smart.

Because they realize that games are the most important and not what you play them on so they can afford and decide to go all in for every available major platform in order to have the biggest selection available to them and have nothing off limits.

The system wars never stop and to them its their system or you are wrong.

A Hobbyist seems appropriate. I mean, it's clearly your hobby if you have all the systems and enough games to justify owning each of those systems.

Someone who has lots of consoles?
A person who has lots of consoles?
A human who has lots of consoles?
The owner of lots of consoles?
A carbon-based lifeform belonging to the species "Homo sapiens" of indeterminate gender who is the owner of lots of consoles?

Not entirely sure what the point of this thread is, other people have claimed that 'Idort' is apparently a word, so maybe that is what you are looking for.
No offence, but it's hard not to get the vibe that you are attempting to show off here, since there is little value to this thread otherwise.

I'd call you a gamer who is either well off enough that he has the disposable income to support multiple libraries ... or ... someone who doesn't have that kind of cash and in need of better priorities.

I'm just going to assume you're the former.

It's really not that expensive if you don't mind lagging behind a bit. It's best to wait 2+ years before buying a system. Wait for a price drop or two, wait for the number of available games to increase. By the time you buy that console/handheld, there'll be a nice library of games to choose from and most will be fairly cheap. Triple AAA games tend to drop in price fairly quickly, so as long as you're willing to wait 6+ months you'll only have to pay 1/3 the price. PlayStation Plus is a great way to play dozens of noteworthy games on several systems and it costs just $60 a year. And of course the digital stores on all consoles and handhelds have sales. Lovely, lovely sales. (

As for PC, the costs really depend on the user. Some have no problems building a decent system from parts they bought on sale, while others want nothing less than the newest heavy duty gaming laptop. Heck, there are plenty of games you can play on a simple business laptop or PC, as in: the type of system nearly no modern person can live without anyway. Might as well play some games on it, right? Games that won't have to cost you much, because thanks to Steam, Humble and GOG there's a good sale to be found every day.

The trickiest part is not finding the money, it's finding the time to enjoy what all those systems have to offer.

You are a GOD AMONG MEN

Basically you're in an upper echelon of the multi-platform master race. If only I had a PS4 and I could be there too.

In all seriousness, though, just somebody who is really into their hobby and has the major cash to further this interest and broaden his horizons.

Apparently it's "idort", the most retarded word I learned this week.
