So you subjectively judge competence of a writer?
Good luck doing it otherwise

Do you say that an architect is not good at his or her profession because you dislike the aesthetic of a building he or she creates?
The architect has 2 standards, although both are subjective. One requires that the building standing up is good as a precept, which is kind of universal (to humans), and the other is it is asethetically pleasing, which is so not universal (to humans) as to be a good candidate for spokeschild of the term.

I mean, considering music is a creative output from a specific culture, how can you validly criticize it any of it outside of the culture it was created in/for?
As we do with everything, for bullshit reasons.
It's no less bullshit to say "rap is a cultural expression of black suffering" then it is to say "rap makes people idiots".
Both are not only inductively determined, but ultimately both are opinions, and thus only valid in-so-far as one pretends objective truth can be found in something like whether or not Gandalf is, in fact, badass.
