What game companies do you know who do things for the fans, also explain what they did.

Valve, they support most of their games through updates, and they have a community that loves them.
Most game companies have a community that loves them, and updates what I meant was: what has a developer done just for the fans? Everyone does those things, but some are better than others.

Valve quickly comes to mind.
So does Blizzard.
But I have to go with Rockstar. They always deliver quality product, and I've yet to be disappointed by them. Hell, even Manhunt 2 (In my opinion, their weakest game) was better than average.

I'm also tempted to say Nintendo, but I'm split on that.
On one hand: They deliver Fantastic 1st Party Titles.
But on the other, they rarely listen to their fans. Reggie knows that Mother would make alot of money here.. oh he knows..

I'd go for Valve as well. They have Steam, which is both a fantastic online shopfront and a way of getting games out there that otherwise might not have had a chance (World Of Goo, Audiosurf etc).

Also, I hear they make games.

Oh please, not a single developer does things 'for the fans'. If they do things for the fans, it's because they think that's the best way to make money. Nothing to be ashamed of, every company does it.

But, if we leave that part out, I'd say Nintendo..the Nintendo before it came up with the whole casual stuff, that is. My making-money-point remains, but all those Zelda, Mario, Metroid games sure were made for the fans. There is a reason that Nintendo has the most dedicated fanboys fans, you know.

Bungie, they seem to like their community (they gave out the cold storage and heroic map packs out for free).

Valve, Bioware, Bethesda, Rockstar and Bungie all have become infamous for being fan-friendly.

On a side note, I will give a cookie to whoever can find me a PC gamer who calls him/herself "an EA fan."

Publisher: Take-two (and everything that they own).

Developer: Gearbox or Bungie.

Valve.
They have Steam, great place to not only get sometimes outrageous deals on AAA titles, but also cool indie games.
Also, for a very specific example, you see their response to the orderform from tf2?

I am going to have to say valve, but recently they have been having a affair with a different fan base. :(
